Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. The Senior Accountant will perform the day-to-day accounting function including general ledger entries, financial and management reporting, and account reconciliations. The position will also be responsible for month-end and year-end closing responsibilities and interfacing with outside auditors.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries in connection with the monthly close.
• Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately in the general ledger.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee the customer billing processes, ensuring accuracy and timely invoicing to support revenue recognition.
• Code and process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and coordinate payments to vendors.
• Support and enhance cost accounting, inventory management, and COGS analysis, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
• Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, coordinating audit requests, preparing supporting documentation, and ensuring timely and accurate responses.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and review variance analysis as needed.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to support Corporate financial goals.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies through budgetary analysis.
• Assist in the implementation and integration of a new ERP system to streamline accounting processes and improve data accuracy.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within accounting operations.
Education and Experience
• B.S. or M.S. in Accounting.
• 7+ years of professional accounting experience. Background in public accounting preferred.
• CPA preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with strong MS Excel abilities and accounting software.
• Technically adept in all areas of accounting operations and transactions, including general ledger, consolidations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, etc.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP requirements.
• Proficient in financial systems.
• Ability to keep technical knowledge current.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong commitment to accuracy.
