Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the accounting records and financial reporting for U.S. operations. This position plays a critical role in the month-end close process, revenue recognition, balance sheet reconciliations, cash management, financial analysis, audit support, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. The role partners closely with FP&A, Sales, Operations, Tax, and external auditors while serving as a key finance resource for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance.

The role is for our largest legal entity. As such the role will include specialized technical account expertise in areas such as revenue recognition, deferred revenue, accounting for debt and a significant volume of intercompany activities. The role will also require coordination with other subsidiaries and will be considered a significant contributor to improving processes and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries and review of supporting documentation.
  • Perform detailed profit and loss analysis, balance sheet reviews, and variance analysis to identify trends and unusual transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Manage accounting for key accounts including accrued liabilities, deferred revenue, intercompany accounts, and shipped-not-invoiced balances.
  • Administer revenue recognition processes in accordance with company policy and U.S. GAAP requirements.
  • Review customer contracts, sales orders, and supporting documentation to determine appropriate accounting treatment and timing of revenue recognition.
  • Prepare accounting analyses and documentation for complex, non-standard, or multi-element transactions.
  • Maintain revenue schedules, reconciliations, accounting memos, process narratives, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure all revenue-related conclusions and positions are supported with complete and audit-ready documentation.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly bank reconciliations and resolve cash-related discrepancies promptly.
  • Monitor cash activity, record treasury transactions, and assist with cash forecasting and cash flow analysis.
  • Support external audit, internal audit, and compliance activities through preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Coordinate with Tax and external service providers to support direct and indirect tax compliance activities.
  • Partner with FP&A to support budgets, forecasts, and management reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports, account analyses, and KPI reporting to support business decision making.
  • Serve as a key finance user for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, including support of chart of accounts, financial dimensions, posting profiles, foreign currency revaluation, and year-end close processes.
  • Participate in system enhancements, testing, automation initiatives, and implementation of process improvements.
  • Document accounting processes and maintain procedures to support consistency, training, and compliance.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong general ledger, close, and financial reporting responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge and application of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition principles.
  • Experience with account reconciliations, audit support, internal controls, and financial analysis.
  • ERP experience required; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Manufacturing, distribution, or multi-entity environment experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across departments.
