About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced
Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting and finance team supporting operations within the oil & gas, energy, construction, or industrial services industries.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong accounting professional who is ready to take ownership of complex accounting activities, contribute to the month-end close, and serve as a key partner to both accounting and operational teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with
general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and variance analysis, preferably within an operational, project-based, or field-services environment.
Key Responsibilities - Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
- Perform and review complex account and bank reconciliations
- Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and other internal reporting
- Analyze monthly financial results, identify variances, and investigate unusual activity
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Assist with project, job cost, revenue, or cost accounting activities
- Partner with operations and business leaders to understand financial performance
- Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and cash activity as needed
- Ensure transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified
- Support internal and external audits and provide requested schedules and documentation
- Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of accounting policies
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Mentor and provide guidance to Staff Accountants and other accounting team members
- Assist with special projects, system implementations, and other finance initiatives
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 4-8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience in oil & gas, energy, construction, engineering, industrial services, or a related industry strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Demonstrated experience owning or significantly contributing to month-end close
- Strong general ledger, reconciliation, journal entry, and financial reporting experience
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Experience with an ERP/accounting system such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Intacct, or similar
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
