Senior Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting and finance team supporting operations within the oil & gas, energy, construction, or industrial services industries.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong accounting professional who is ready to take ownership of complex accounting activities, contribute to the month-end close, and serve as a key partner to both accounting and operational teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and variance analysis, preferably within an operational, project-based, or field-services environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
  • Perform and review complex account and bank reconciliations
  • Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and other internal reporting
  • Analyze monthly financial results, identify variances, and investigate unusual activity
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Assist with project, job cost, revenue, or cost accounting activities
  • Partner with operations and business leaders to understand financial performance
  • Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and cash activity as needed
  • Ensure transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified
  • Support internal and external audits and provide requested schedules and documentation
  • Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of accounting policies
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Staff Accountants and other accounting team members
  • Assist with special projects, system implementations, and other finance initiatives

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 4-8+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in oil & gas, energy, construction, engineering, industrial services, or a related industry strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Demonstrated experience owning or significantly contributing to month-end close
  • Strong general ledger, reconciliation, journal entry, and financial reporting experience
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
  • Experience with an ERP/accounting system such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Intacct, or similar
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
