Position Title: Senior Accountant Reporting directly to the Financial Reporting Manager, the Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in the Finance team, overseeing key accounting functions and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. This role is responsible for day-to-day accounting transactions, actively contributing to the month-end close process, and assisting in the preparation and review of various components of the quarterly and annual financial statements in addition to monthly reporting requirements.
Key aspects of this role include working closely with the Finance team and partnering with cross-functional departments to ensure financial accuracy, maintain compliance, and drive operational efficiency.
Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)Accounts Payable and Payments- Review and approve invoices ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
- Review and approve payment batches, verifying supporting documentation and adherence to company policies.
Month-End & Quarterly Financial Reporting- Prepare or review monthly close working papers, including account reconciliations, PP&E, financial instruments, derivative assets/liabilities, leases, marketable securities, and prepaid expenses.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and Management Discussion & Analysis, ensuring compliance with reporting standards.
- Analyze financial records for discrepancies and variances, providing insights and recommendations for corrective actions as required.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by ensuring accurate classifications, reconciliations, documentation of details.
- Prepare accounting memos in accordance with IFRS.
- Oversee the month-end closing process on a timely basis while ensuring all payables and accruals are accurately recorded within the appropriate period.
Financial Analysis & Compliance- Assemble and provide financial data for internal reporting, external audits, and regulatory filings as required.
- Support compliance efforts by ensuring adherence to accounting principles and company policies.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements by consistently following established policies, procedures, and control standards.
Process Improvements & Cross-Functional Collaboration- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the financial reporting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives, improve financial workflows, and enhance overall financial health.
- Assist in ad hoc projects as needed.

The Ideal CandidateAcademic / Educational Requirements:- Accounting diploma or accounting degree is required.
- Enrollment in the CPA program or a CPA designation is preferred.
Required Skills / Experience:- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in a public practice firm or with a public company is required.
- Industry or similar experience would be a benefit (mining, oil & gas, energy etc.)
- Strong technical accounting skills are essential with a desire and ability to work within a fast-paced environment.

Work Location & ConditionsThis is an office-based job, in Skeena's Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast paced, and at times stressful working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered.
CompensationThe expected hourly/salary range for this position is CAD XXX-XXX, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
