Description
SFCM is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance department. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the incumbent is responsible for supporting accounting and reporting processes for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Responsibilities include month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts receivable activities, and supporting managerial reporting and financial and compliance audits. The incumbent may also be responsible for researching accounting issues and supporting financial processes. This position is 100% in-office.
Specific Duties- Prepare assigned month-end journal entries.
- Manage assigned accounts receivable activities, including collaborating with departments and creating and processing invoices.
- Process and record payments and deposits, ensuring transactions are accurately posted and reconciled.
- Prepare and maintain accrual and deferral activities, as assigned.
- Prepare and follow up on assigned balance sheet reconciliations and rollforward schedules.
- Perform and follow up on assigned variance analyses.
- Review assigned invoice activity.
- Assist the Assistant Controller with year-end audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Support assigned compliance reporting and related schedules.
- Collaborate with Financial Aid and Student Billing on accounting-related matters, as assigned.
- Assist with accounting for contributions, investments, endowment activity, and other areas, as assigned.
- Other financial projects and tasks as assigned by the Assistant Controller, Controller or VP Finance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required.
- Prior higher education experience desirable.
- Prior experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge general ledger highly desirable.
- Public accounting experience desirable.
- Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience.
Work EnvironmentThis position operates in a professional office environment and requires regular use of computers, financial systems, and other standard office technology. The position requires the ability to manage detailed financial information accurately while working collaboratively with colleagues throughout the SFCM.
