Full Job Description
Senior Accountant

The Senior Account will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of accounting information by compiling and analyzing financial data on a variety of transactions with generally accepted accounting principles and University policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and accruals
  • Maintains the University charts of accounts
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare cash management reports and monthly cash receipts and disbursement analyses
  • Prepare and distribute monthly departmental budget reports
  • Reconcile cash accounts
  • Reconcile student revenue from Bursar system to general ledger
  • Support grant revenue reconciliation
  • Assist in year-end close and various audits (i.e., year-end, uniform guidance, benefits plan audits)
  • Work collaboratively with the Financial Aid, Bursar and other departments to complete projects
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Supervise and support the work of the Staff/General Accountant
  • Other duties as assigned


Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, preferably in accounting. A bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Administration/Management with relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • Two to three years of experience in a business office environment is required, preferably in Higher Education
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency on Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, knowledge of Great Plains
  • Ability to work independently and flexibility of completion of work assignments
  • Knowledge of GAAP, FASB and Uniform Guidance for Federal and State Funding
