Overview

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the company’s financial reporting in a dynamic SaaS environment. This position owns critical close activities, supports compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal controls, and partners across Finance and the business to deliver meaningful financial insights. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with sound judgment, a process-improvement mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated organization. This role also leverages AI-enabled and automation tools, where appropriate, to improve efficiency, strengthen analysis, and support scalable accounting operations while maintaining strong human review, data integrity, and control discipline.

Responsibilities
  • Owns and executes month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Accounts for cash, receivables, prepaid expenses, capitalized software and related amortization, accrued expenses and other balance sheet accounts as assigned
  • Prepares and/or reviews accurate, timely financial reports in accordance with US GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Supports technical accounting activities, including SaaS revenue recognition and application of ASC 606 guidance, as applicable
  • Maintains strong internal controls and ensures compliance with SOX requirements, audit standards, and regulatory expectations
  • Analyzes financial results, investigates variances, and provides analysis and recommendations to Finance leadership and business partners
  • Partners cross-functionally with FP&A, operations, and other stakeholders to support reporting accuracy, financial reporting requirements, and planning activities.
  • Coordinates and supports internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to requests, and resolving issues in a timely manner
  • Improves accounting processes, reconciliations, and controls to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Leverages ERP systems, reporting tools, automation solutions, and AI-enabled tools, as appropriate, to streamline workflows, strengthen financial data quality, and support scalable accounting operations while maintaining human review and control discipline
  • Supports system implementations, process changes, and continuous improvement initiatives across the accounting function
  • Provides guidance, knowledge sharing, and informal mentoring to less experienced team members, as needed
Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and intermediate to advanced knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance
  • Advanced knowledge of financial close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Working knowledge of revenue recognition principles, including experience with SaaS or subscription-based business models
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, advanced spreadsheet tools, and data analysis solutions used to support accounting operations
  • Ability to use AI-enabled and automation tools appropriately to support analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and process efficiency while maintaining human oversight and review
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify issues, interpret system-generated outputs, and recommend solutions
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and data integrity in a deadline-driven environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information and technology-enabled insights to non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across teams in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience in SaaS, technology, healthcare, or other regulated industries
  • Experience with business intelligence, reporting, AI-enabled, or advanced analytics tools used in finance and accounting environments
  • Experience with NetSuite, Adaptive, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI/Access, or other database tools
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or finance transformation initiatives
  • Knowledge of automation, workflow optimization, anomaly detection, or data visualization tools
  • Public accounting background or experience supporting a high-growth business environment

 

Experience:

  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of close processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • 2 years of experience supporting audits, internal controls, and compliance activities
  • 3 years of experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a SaaS or technology-focused finance environment

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a high-growth, scaling, or transformation-oriented environment
  • Experience with multi-entity, consolidated, or complex reporting structures
  • Experience in healthcare technology, software, or subscription-based business models

 

Required Training, Certification and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

 

Preferred Training, Certification and Education:

  • Active CPA certification or active progress toward CPA certification
  • Master's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Additional accounting or finance certification, such as CMA
  • Public accounting background
