Full Job Description
Our client, L.O. Eye Care, is seeking a Senior Accountant who will bring a strong foundation in accounting, audit, and tax compliance to support the financial health of our growing organization. This is a high-impact role where your work directly contributes to better patient outcomes and operational excellence. This role goes beyond traditional accounting. As a Senior Accountant you will partner closely with the CEO and leadership team to provide accounting support to the Practice. This role oversees a small accounting team. This opportunity is a fully onsite role, based out of our Grand Ledge, Michigan office. Strong preference is for candidates based in the Mid-Michigan area.

Essential Duties and responsibilities
  • Lead the month-end close process (target 5-7 days)
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Ensure accuracy across balance sheets, income statements, and trial balances
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow management
  • Manage revenue recognition and billing accuracy, including healthcare-related revenue cycles
  • Monitor and reduce A/R aging
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Strengthen compliance across payroll, tax, and reporting processes
  • Enhance operational efficiency through data analysis and process improvements
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, including W-2s and payroll tax filings
  • Support compliance with:
  • 1099 and 1042-S reporting
  • Sales & use tax filings (multi-entity)
  • Partner on ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, including applicable federal standards
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and healthcare regulatory standards
  • Support external audits and tax filings
  • Strengthen internal controls and financial processes
  • Perform periodic audits and reconciliations across financial data
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
  • Provide actionable financial insights to leadership
  • Use data tools and analytics to improve decision-making and efficiency
  • Supervise and support a small accounting team
  • Lead training and process improvement initiatives
  • Identify automation opportunities using tools like Excel and data analytics platforms


Qualifications, Education & Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 3-6 years of progressive experience in Accounting and financial reporting strongly preferred
  • Public accounting or professional services experience highly valued
  • Healthcare or medical practice experience required
  • Experience in multi-entity environments and tax compliance
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial controls
  • Payroll processing and tax reporting
  • Financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
  • Experience with financial systems (Sage Intacct preferred)
  • Exposure to data analytics tools a plus
