This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Greenwich Drive (San Diego, CA) and remote.

DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for complex general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliation functions. The incumbent prepares and reviews journal entries, supports monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, and ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

The role analyzes financial information from multiple sources, prepares reports and ad hoc analyses, and independently handles assignments requiring judgment and verification of data. In a healthcare or other complex organizational environment, this position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, sound judgment, and collaboration across departments.

Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Perform general ledger accounting activities, including daily, monthly, quarterly, and year-end processes.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and fiscal year-end close processes.
  • Analyze financial data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare financial reports, schedules, analyses, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor account activity and identify trends or variances.
  • Apply accounting principles, practices, policies, and internal controls consistently.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting plus five (5) years of related experience/training.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting functions.
  • Ability to extract, verify, and compile accounting information from multiple sources to complete work assignments.
  • Advanced ability to effectively present complex accounting and finance related information verbally and in writing.
  • Advance experience using financial transactions and systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and unique regulatory compliance requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of common desktop / web applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical procedures used in accounting project of complex scope.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial close processes.
  • Experience with a complex chart of accounts and automated general ledger systems.
  • Three to five years of experience in a large, complex organization, preferably in healthcare or a multi-entity environment.
  • Experience with Oracle accounting software and Premier Connect.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and lookups.
  • Familiarity with Smart View.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to handle complex accounting assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $88,000 - $161,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $42.15 - $77.39

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
