About the role:

As a Senior Accountant at Financeit, it's not just about balancing books and managing day-to-day accounting functions - you'll dive deep to understand our consumer lending operations, drive process improvements, and provide creative solutions to complex accounting problems. If you're a proactive learner and curious problem-solver who constantly strives to do things better, you'll thrive on our finance team.

What you'll do:
  • Prepare timely and accurate month-end working papers and journal entries to support the financial close process
  • Analyze monthly financial results, identify key trends and variances, and provide meaningful insights and commentary
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Accounting to evaluate and improve finance team processes, including leveraging automation and AI-powered tools
  • Prepare reconciliations of high-volume cash and loan receivable accounts with complex funding structures, including investigating and resolving reconciling items and discrepancies
  • Support year end reporting activities, including assisting with the annual external audit
  • Assist with ad hoc initiatives, special projects and cross functional business needs
  • Contribute to the development, enhancement and maintenance of internal controls to support a strong control environment
  • Maintain existing accounting policies and research and document new accounting policies as needed

Requirements

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • 3+ years of related experience, preferably for financial services or e-commerce operations
  • CPA designation is required
  • Advanced Excel skills for financial reporting (v-lookup, pivot tables, sumif)
  • Knowledge of IFRS concepts and day-to-day accounting is required
  • Experience with accounting ERP systems, tax, or audit is highly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
