About the Team

The Accounting team at Decagon is at the center of our growth, building the financial foundation that powers a rapidly scaling startup. We ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP while designing scalable processes and strong controls that support expansion across teams and geographies. Partnering closely with Sales, People, Legal, and Operations, we drive thoughtful spend management, contract oversight, and operational excellence-balancing precision with agility in a fast-moving environment where our work directly enables the company's next stage of growth.

About the Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to help build and run the day-to-day accounting engine that keeps our company scaling. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that owns core accounting operations across the general ledger, month-end close, accounts payable and receivable, and travel and expense. You'll produce accurate, GAAP-compliant financials while helping design the scalable processes and controls a rapidly growing organization needs.

In this role, you will
  • Own key areas of the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, leveraging AI-assisted tools to draft entries, flag anomalies, and accelerate reconciliation review to help deliver accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules, using AI-powered analysis to investigate and resolve discrepancies faster, while preserving strong documentation and internal controls
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely processing, accurate GL coding, and proper approvals while managing vendor payments, cash application, and aging reports
  • Prepare documents supporting internal and external audits, using AI tools to organize evidence and surface exceptions proactively, and ensure the successful completion of those audits
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, People, and Operations to support company growth, and actively identify, pilot, and champion AI and automation opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across owned functions


Your background looks something like this
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or in the process of working towards one is preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, public accounting and industry experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and month-end close processes
  • Hands-on experience with the general ledger, reconciliations, AP/AR, and T&E operations
  • Must be highly proficient in Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently reconcile and resolve discrepancies
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with comfort operating in a fast-moving startup environment


Even better if you have
  • Direct accounting experience for the following areas: accruals, prepaids, investment, internally use software, ASC 842 leases, revenue, foreign currency and/or consolidation.
  • Experience at a high-growth or hyper-growth company
  • Familiarity with modern accounting and expense tools (e.g., ERP systems, corporate card/expense platforms)
