About the Opportunity

Darien Advisors is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close activities across a portfolio of growing and technically complex clients.

This opportunity is designed for someone who can take ownership of accounting deliverables, work through incomplete or complicated financial records, identify inconsistencies, and produce accurate, well-supported financial information.

The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting fundamentals, experience with cloud-based accounting systems, and the judgment to recognize when a matter requires additional research, documentation, correction, or escalation.

Experience with cryptocurrency or digital-asset accounting is preferred, but this is not solely a crypto-subledger position. We also welcome experienced accountants who are prepared to develop fluency in digital-asset activity and its impact on financial reporting.

What You Will Do
  1. Maintain accurate accounting records for assigned clients
  2. Perform monthly and periodic account reconciliations
  3. Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documentation
  4. Support month-end and year-end close processes
  5. Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reporting, and other financial schedules
  6. Review general-ledger activity for errors, inconsistencies, and unusual transactions
  7. Investigate and resolve discrepancies across bank, credit-card, payment, payroll, and financial accounts
  8. Support accounting cleanup, catch-up, and historical reconstruction projects
  9. Work with multi-entity, multi-currency, and technically complex client structures
  10. Integrate digital-asset activity into the general ledger when applicable
  11. Coordinate with tax, advisory, and cryptocurrency-reconciliation professionals
  12. Prepare organized workpapers and maintain clear documentation
  13. Communicate open items, findings, and required information clearly
  14. Complete assigned deliverables within established reporting and client deadlines
  15. Escalate material accounting issues and unresolved factual questions
  16. Protect confidential client and firm information
  17. Identify recurring accounting issues and recommend practical process improvements

What We Are Looking For

  4. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Xero, or comparable cloud-based accounting platforms
  5. Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements
  6. Ability to work through incomplete, disorganized, or technically complex accounting records
  7. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, supportable work
  8. Clear written communication and sound professional judgment
  9. Ability to manage responsibilities independently in a remote environment
  10. Ability to identify issues and escalate them before they affect reporting or client deliverables
  11. A secure and reliable working environment appropriate for handling confidential information

Preferred Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
  2. CPA, chartered accountant, or another relevant accounting credential
