Senior Accountant -- growth to Accounting ManagerThe role is vacant and client has a preference for Temp to Hire; however, would be flexible to consider Direct Hire for the right candidate.
Position SummaryThe Senior Accountant will support the accounting team with month end close, general ledger management, cost accounting, and reporting for a manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail oriented professional looking to gain or expand manufacturing accounting experience while providing immediate value to the finance function.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for month end and year end close
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
- Support standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis specific to a manufacturing environment
- Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and balance sheet schedules
- Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports and schedules for management review
- Support internal and external audit requests with documentation and analysis
- Partner with operations, purchasing, and plant personnel to ensure accurate cost and inventory reporting
- Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen internal controls and close efficiency
- Responsible for other tasks as assigned by Accounting Manager and/or CFO
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with manufacturing or cost accounting experience strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of GAAP, standard costing, and inventory accounting principles
- Proficiency with ERP systems (such as NetSuite, SAP, Epicor, or similar) and advanced Excel skills
- CPA or progress toward CPA a plus, though not required
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly within a contract engagement
- Clear communication skills and comfort collaborating cross functionally with plant and finance teams
Engagement Details- Type: Contract / Temporary, with potential to convert to direct hire
- Location: Monrovia, CA (onsite initially with hybrid options after training period)
