Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of financial
statements, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial analysis for
a portfolio of senior living communities. This role works closely with General Managers,
Regional Operations, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Corporate Finance to ensure
compliance with company policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements for assigned communities.
• Complete month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reclasses,
and account reconciliations.
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances between actual, budget, and
prior-year performance.
• Ensure financial reporting deadlines are met accurately and timely.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and adherence to accounting policies.
Account Reconciliations
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, intercompany accounts, and
other general ledger accounts.
• Research and resolve discrepancies and outstanding reconciling items.
• Review prepaid expenses, fixed assets, deposits, and accrued liabilities.
Operational Support
• Partner with community General Manager to review financial performance and
provide accounting guidance.
• Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and cash management
processes.
• Review resident billing, census, Referral Fees, occupancy trends, labor expenses,
and other key senior living metrics.
• Assist communities with financial questions, coding, and accounting compliance.
Audit and Compliance
• Support annual financial audits and tax-related requests.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
• Assist with regulatory reporting and documentation requirements.
• Maintain organized accounting records and audit support files.
Financial Analysis
• Prepare monthly variance analyses and management reports.
• Monitor financial trends, occupancy, labor costs, agency staffing expenses, and
community operating performance.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
• Provide recommendations to management based on financial results.

Qualifications

Education
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.
Experience
• 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, multi-site operations, or real
estate preferred.
• Experience with property management/accounting software such as Yardi preferred.
Technical Skills
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and
financial modeling.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Ability to analyze large data sets and identify financial trends.
