Job Title: Senior Estimator - Power Generation

Reports to: VP of Operations

Business Unit: NCC - STL

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Estimator - Power Generation to support our construction and modification projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical/civil systems in industrial environments. This role requires deep knowledge of power markets, gas, combine cycle, and nuclear systems, with strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with engineering and project management teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Estimate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs for installations
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals and cost breakdowns to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits to gather data and validate project conditions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure estimates align with project goals and timelines.
  • Maintain and update cost databases and historical records for future reference.
  • Evaluate and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Monitor industry trends, labor rates, and material costs to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Identify risk factors and potential cost overruns and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Support contract negotiations and assist in developing project schedules.

Job Requirements
  • Work Experience:
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in mechanical/civil estimating
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience applicable to the role.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Proficiency in estimation software with ability to learn and adapt to our proprietary estimation tool.
    • Experience with Primavera 6 software is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and mechanical modification requirements.
    • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and communication skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and schematics.
    • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar certification is a plus.
