Full Job Description
Overview

OSI Optoelectronics is seeking a Semiconductor Test Engineer to join the team. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing semiconductor wafer and chip-level testing, characterization, and qualification to ensure product quality and reliability. They will design, implement, and automate test methodologies, including test scripts, data analysis, troubleshooting, and process optimization. They support semiconductor assembly, packaging, and production test activities while collaborating with devices, process, and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues. They will also drive the evaluation and adoption of advanced test equipment, software, automation tools, and emerging technologies to build a scalable, efficient, and future-ready test infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce automated test solutions, including software, scripting, data acquisition, instrument integration, and automated reporting, to improve test efficiency, repeatability, and throughput.
  • Develop and implement new test methodologies, test specifications, and test systems for current and next-generation semiconductor products.
  • Translate product requirements into comprehensive electrical, optical, functional, and reliability test specifications.
  • Lead systematic troubleshooting of complex test and product failures and identify root causes using structured engineering methodologies.
  • Establish robust failure-analysis and test-correlation methodologies to distinguish between product, process, equipment, and test-system-related failures.
  • Evaluate emerging test technologies, instrumentation, software platforms, and equipment and determine how they can be incorporated into our manufacturing environment.
  • Work closely with Device Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D to ensure that test requirements are incorporated early in the product-development cycle.
  • Utilize test data, statistical methods, and automated analysis to identify trends, improve test coverage, increase yield, and reduce test-related escapes.
  • Establish a roadmap for modernizing our test infrastructure and developing the internal technical capability needed to support future business growth.
  • Uphold the company's core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork.
  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the company's Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

Must have the following:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Semiconductor Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. M.S. degree desired.
  • At least two (2) years of hands-on experience in semiconductor test engineering, wafer-level testing, device characterization, or production test.
  • Experience developing and executing electrical tests for semiconductor wafers, dies, and packaged devices.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor test equipment, wafer probing, probe stations/probe cards, SMUs, oscilloscopes, and automated measurement systems.
  • Experience with Semiconductor Devices: photodiodes, APDs, optical sensors, transistors, or other semiconductor devices.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar tools, with the ability to develop automated test and data-analysis solutions.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex problems involving semiconductor devices, test hardware, instrumentation, software, and measurement systems.
  • Experience developing test methods and transitioning them from R&D/engineering environments into reliable production test systems as well as test automation.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Desired skills include:

  • Experience developing scalable, next-generation automated test platforms and applying advanced data analytics to semiconductor test and yield improvement.
  • Experience in analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a hands-on laboratory and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with test automation, data acquisition, statistical analysis, SPC, yield analysis, and test-data visualization.
