Summary

As the Hypersonics Security Specialist you will serve as NASA's principal authority and senior advisor on security programs supporting hypersonic research and development. You will lead the design, implementation, and oversight of security strategies that protect classified and sensitive technologies, facilities, and personnel across the Agency. This role is critical to ensuring NASA's hypersonics portfolio supports national security priorities and interagency collaboration efforts.

Duties

Help

  • Serves as the senior security advisor for all hypersonics-related programs, ensuring compliance with federal and NASA-specific security regulations, and Executive Orders across multiple NASA Centers.
  • Leads the development and implementation of security policies and procedures for Special Access Programs (SAPs), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and export-controlled hypersonics technologies across multiple NASA Centers and programs.
  • Conducts comprehensive threat assessments and risk analyses for hypersonics activities and develop mitigation strategies addressing foreign intelligence, cyber, insider, and emerging security threats for NASA Hypersonics.
  • Leads security coordination with the Department of Defense (DoD), the Intelligence Community (IC), and other federal agencies to enable secure collaboration on joint hypersonics programs, initiatives, and activities.
  • Oversees integration of physical, personnel, and information security for Hypersonics facilities/test environments, coordinating with Center Operations Directorates, Office of Chief Information Officer, and others for classified project operations.
  • Directs development and delivery of specialized security training and awareness programs for civil servants and contractors to ensure physical and digital security compliance and safeguarding of classified and sensitive information and material.
  • Leads or support investigations of security incidents, coordinating with NASA's Office of Protective Services, Office of Inspector General, Office of Chief Information Officer, and external partners.
  • Represents NASA in interagency, national security, and classified forums providing security expertise and influencing policy and program decisions to advance aerospace technologies.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:

  • Leading security operations for classified aerospace or defense programs; managing security compliance for programs; and/or coordinating with interagency partners on national security matters;
  • Developing, implementing, or evaluating security policies, procedures, or compliance programs in accordance with federal security requirements, such as the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs), and agency-specific policies; and
  • Applying security principles and risk management practices to hypersonic systems, advanced aerospace technologies, or other sensitive programs, such as assessing vulnerabilities and recommending measures to mitigate security risks.
