Role

We are seeking a highly experienced corporate security professional to lead our sites in Arizona.

Applied Materials is growing at a pace that is driving significant increases in headcount and facilities. As a result, we expect over the next five years to have the most exciting and active R&D and manufacturing infrastructure pipeline in our history. The Global Security Operations (GSO) team is responsible for the strategic development, oversight, and execution of security operations across all company locations. As a member of the North America GSO leadership team, you will play an exciting and important role in our success.

The Manager of Security Operations will develop and lead the GSO organization across multiple locations throughout Arizona. The role blends deep security and asset protection expertise with strong program management capabilities to ensure the protection of personnel, intellectual property and physical assets. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with proven corporate security experience and the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions and drive strategic initiatives.

This is a new position based in the greater Pheonix, AZ area and will be responsible for establishing a security team that meets the growth and demands of Applied Materials throughout the state. You will be responsible to partner with external public agencies, local business unit leaders, functional subject-matter-experts (Real Estate, EHS, BCP, IT), Finance, Legal, Employee Relations, Procurement and other stakeholders to align on business requirements and common goals. It is also the responsibility of this position to drive operational plans to ensure successful execution that will translate into measurable year-over-year improvements in performance, efficiency and effectiveness.

This position is supported by the Director of Security, North America and is based in the greater Phoenix area. The role requires travel up to 20%.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage security operations programs for Applied Materials locations in Arizona, including building strong working relationships with senior level stakeholders and key business partners.
  • Set expectations and oversee implementation of contract security services and physical security standards.
  • Develop and manage operational metrics, KPIs, and SLAs in collaboration with cross-functional, regional and global teams.
  • Utilize internal case reporting systems to optimize staffing and resource deployment.
  • Design and implement security awareness and training programs in partnership with internal stakeholders.
  • Manage budgets and ensure accountability for assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Drive strategic initiatives and contribute to broader Global Security and resiliency efforts.
  • This role must be available and willing to respond to after-hour escalations and emergencies as needed.
  • Engage directly and regularly with business unit leaders to represent the function and align strategies on key priorities and plans for each site.
  • Create a positive, safe and secure employee experience.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate security personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Challenge the status quo and drive innovations that have fundamental impacts and improvements on our ability as a function to deliver our mission at Applied Materials within your portfolio and region.
  • Ensure effective site/geographic area partnerships with external public agencies and key partner functions including IT, Procurement, Facilities, Finance, Legal and HR.


Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Education

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 10+ years of experience in a corporate security related field.
  • 5+ years' experience leading multi-location organizations for a technology company.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field required
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and collaborating with virtual teams in a multi-national organization.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills across own organization and partner organizations (IT, Procurement, Facilities, Finance, Legal etc.) to drive and deliver exceptional service. Ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Deep knowledge if industry best practices and performance metrics.
  • Experience in safety, business continuity, state-of-the-art asset protection systems and emergency management.
  • Skilled in strategic planning and global security program management.
  • Customer-focused and service-oriented mindset.
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AI tools and common security applications.
  • Capable of influencing senior leadership and working in a matrixed environment.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
