PHYSICAL OFFICE LOCATION: PEC Headquarters - 201 S Ave F, Johnson City, TX 78636

$95,392.80 Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits

Midpoint of pay range: $119,241.00

*Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay within the full pay range. Individual base pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.

Position Summary

The Security Investigator is responsible for recommending, implementing and developing programs in support of the Cooperative's security strategic initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Cooperative's security systems to ensure compliance with infrastructure protection requirements, local, state and federal regulations
  • Develop strategic plan for overall security systems integration and interoperability
  • Participate in short and long term security strategic planning and budget development
  • Design, model, analyze and implement technical physical security sub-systems, including alarms, perimeter security measures, video management systems, grid security and access control systems
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of security system functionality and technology, including video analytics, communication protocols, video codecs, frame rates, resolutions and video storage
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to optimize security system functionality and reliability
  • Make recommendations for new products, software and systems
  • Monitor security programs and manage access control systems
  • Ensure the security control of employees, visitors and contractors
  • Oversee the installation of equipment, including programming and configuration of video servers, IP cameras and associated equipment
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments that include physical security inspections, surveys and risk analysis
  • Respond to emergency incidents, customer inquiries and other events to prevent malevolent acts against company assets or personnel
  • Conduct investigations and preserve evidence to support post-investigation actions such as criminal or civil proceedings and arbitration
  • Prepare investigative and incident reports, procedures and checklists


  • Provide recommendations on incident response planning and the investigation of security breaches
  • Assist with disciplinary and legal matters resulting from security risks or breaches
  • Participate in Cooperative protection plans for company events and off site venues
  • Provide recommendations for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Cooperative's security plans and programs
  • Monitor and minimize control losses and provide a secure work environment
  • Assist in the planning, organization and implementation of security education and awareness training
  • Conduct training and coordinate internal needs with the Organizational Development Department
  • Execute critical emergency decisions without management oversight
  • Manage contractors
  • Operate PEC vehicle(s) for business purposes in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and local law and PEC policies and procedures
  • Maintain driver eligibility through appropriate valid Texas Driver's License and driving record in accordance with PEC policy
  • Maintain the security of confidential information
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology
  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

  • Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data, configuration, or processing information

  • Knowledge of interview and investigation techniques

Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, Security Management, Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
  • Directly related experience may substitute for education
  • Six years' of directly related experience
  • Four years of directly related experience managing and administering Access Control Systems and Video Management Systems preferred
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Report that comply with PEC policy
