Major Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage executive protection operations to ensure the safety of senior leaders during travel, events, and daily activities.
  • Conduct comprehensive threat, vulnerability, and risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate potential security concerns.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine executive protection strategies, protocols, and emergency response plans.
  • Direct, train, and oversee security personnel, ensuring readiness, professionalism, and adherence to organizational protection standards.
  • Coordinate logistics for executive movements, including route planning, venue security reviews, and travel risk analysis.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with internal teams, law enforcement agencies, and external security providers.
  • Oversee intelligence gathering and monitoring to support informed decision-making related to executive schedules, travel, and activities.
  • Manage incident response and post-event reporting, ensuring timely communication and incorporation of lessons learned.
  • Oversee security technology and tools used in executive protection operations, ensuring effectiveness, readiness, and compliance.
  • Ensure executive protection measures balance robust security controls with minimal disruption to business operations and executive workflows.

Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice or a related field, or equivalent related experience.

Experience Required:

Five (5) years of experience in a related field such as security, military, law enforcement, or dispatch.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Willingness and ability to carry a department-authorized firearm while on duty in accordance with Public Safety Firearms Policy, including safe use of a Level III holster approved by departmental range masters.
  • Ability to safely operate, load and unload, disassemble, and clean firearms independently; strong hand strength, dexterity, and firearm proficiency required.
  • Successful completion of background investigation and psychological screening post-offer, pre-employment, and periodically thereafter.
  • Prior training in non-violent crisis mitigation and de-escalation, defensive tactics, and firearms use.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly by phone, face-to-face, and via radio.
  • Demonstrated mature judgment, sound reasoning, and calm demeanor in high-stress and emotionally charged situations.
  • Experience conducting complex investigations, with strong critical-thinking and analytical skills.
  • Expert knowledge of security and public safety practices, procedures, and compliance standards at federal, state, and organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, as well as working knowledge of security systems such as video surveillance, access control, and emergency alert systems.
  • Ability to assess and respond to multiple simultaneous situations, prioritize effectively, and maintain efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interact professionally and empathetically with team members, patients, visitors, and stakeholders under challenging conditions.
  • Understanding of protected health information (PHI) access requirements, limiting access to the minimum necessary and adhering to organizational policies.
  • Ability to meet applicable state or regional firearm qualification requirements, including annual qualification when required (e.g., Illinois-mandated armed courses).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Must be physically fit and capable of exerting intense physical effort, including running, restraining individuals, assisting with patient transfers, and lifting or carrying loads of approximately 25 to 60 pounds.
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and rapid movement transitions in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • May work in fast-paced conditions and unfavorable weather conditions.
  • Requires strong visual and auditory acuity (correctable to 20/20), color distinction, and clear verbal communication.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, emotionally charged situations, and potential hazards, including mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards.
  • Must be able to safely operate firearms and other security equipment while remaining calm and responsive under stress.
