Job DescriptionSurveyEssential Functions: - Serves as lead person and oversees a survey crew.
- Coordinates work assignments and reviews the work of the survey crew.
- Trains employees in crew requirements and procedures.
- Serves as lead worker or acknowledged expert who resolves more difficult problems.
- Utilizes modern survey equipment and software applications during the collection of survey field data.
- Performs complex field survey work.
- Calculates distances, locations and angles and related measurements using standard formulas and methods.
- Instructs safe methods and procedures of work and ensures proper safety procedures are used.
- Maintains and monitors supplies, materials and equipment.
- Requisitions needed materials and equipment.
- Performs difficult public contact work for the crew.
- Recommends methods and materials for completion of survey work.
- Maintains field notes and draws diagrams for surveyor's review.
- Maintains records and prepares reports.
Additional Responsibilities:May perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisor.
Central Files and GraphicsEssential Functions: - Oversee an administrative support unit involved in specialized clerical work.
- Schedule administrative assignments and review work of unit.
- Train admin support employees in office requirements.
- May serve as lead worker or acknowledged expert who resolves most difficult problems.
- Utilize related software applications.
- Perform complex clerical work.
- Compose and/or type correspondence.
- Perform difficult public contact work for the unit.
- Maintain records.
- Gather and organize information for preparation of technical reports.
- Update computer records by entering data.
- Operate computer based Laser fiche Document System.
- EPRTS, File Tracker or other specialized departmental software could be responsible for conducting. microfilming activities to include batching of documents for filming through cataloging of resulting film products.
- Produce complex reports from spreadsheets and special application software.
Additional Responsibilities: - May requisition office supplies.
- Occasionally assemble commercial storage shelving components, storage containers, and accessories used in storage facilities and/or stock rooms.
- May preserve and restore fragile archival documents of significance.
- May ship records for storage and retrieve records from various remote locations.
- Perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisor.
QualificationsSurveyTraining and Experience: - Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in sub-professional engineering and field survey work.
Desirabie Knowledge, Skills and Abiiities: - Thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, and equipment used in field surveying work
- Thorough knowledge of the computations used in field surveying and related work
- Very skilled in the operation and care of surveying instruments
- Very skilled in performing trigonometry computations of angles, areas, distances and traverses
- Thorough ability working with total station, GPS receiver, data collectors and levels
- Ability to follow and give instruction based upon established procedures given by written and oral direction
- Assist in the training and oversee field personnel; thorough ability to read/understand construction plans
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete engineering/survey records and notes
Central Files and GraphicsTraining and Experience: - Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Four years of progressively responsible administrative support/office experience in related area
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Thorough knowledge of appropriate administrative support methods, office practices, modern office equipment and filing systems
- Working knowledge of department function: working knowledge of job related software applications
- Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and specialized software; working knowledge of microfilm and duplication systems
- Considerable skill in performing office operations
- Considerable ability to operate a variety of office equipment
- Considerable ability to form effective working relationships with the public under difficult circumstances
- Considerable ability to oversee the work of others
- Ability to keep complex records and prepare detailed reports
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: - Must possess a valid Driver's License issued by the state in which employee resides.
