What this position entails

IntelliScript's Information Technology has been a key part of our success and is critical to our future. In this position, you will have responsibility for shaping the ongoing development and enhancement of IntelliScript's industry-leading software. You will be asked to assume duties that include advanced usage of search technologies such as Open/ElasticSearch and how to transform, load, scale, and expose data to our various services and products for search-based use cases. We are looking for candidates with the ability to consolidate varying data sources and provide searching capabilities that enhance our products using geographic queries, person matching logic, fuzzy matching logic, AI-enhanced queries, and other cutting-edge search technologies. You will be expected to anticipate team efforts across product boundaries and provide guidance when your work may add value to other areas of the enterprise.

What you will be doing

  • Expose data searching capabilities to both front and back-end applications
  • Implement new search technologies to provide the best customer experience possible by improving hit rates and the overall quality of results
  • Seek ways of improving our existing search infrastructure
  • Continuously optimize and tune queries and indexes and scale environments to efficiently handle evolving requirements
  • Implement and monitor tools to keep track of search systems health, query latency, and resource utilization


What we need

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience specializing in search technologies
  • Strong experience with Open/ElasticSearch including Query DSL, indexes, streaming data, full-text search, filtering, aggregating, synonyms, and analyzers
  • Experience handling large quantities of application logging data
  • Strong hands-on programming experience in modern object-oriented languages, an understanding of microservice architecture, and familiarity with core AWS technologies
  • Experience with scripting languages such as python and JavaScript using node.js
  • Ability to create and consume RESTful APIs
  • Advanced experience with relational databases such as RDS and MySQL including querying, indexing, and moving data to/from relational sources
  • Experience applying advanced pattern matching and searching algorithms for efficient and accurate text searching

Location

The expected application deadline for this job is September 15, 2025. This position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI for quarterly PI Planning meetings and one annual company meeting.

The overall salary range for this role is $117,500 - $232,680. For candidates residing in:

  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $129,250 - $213,290.
  • New York City, Newark, San Jose, or San Francisco the salary range is $141,000 - $232,680.
  • All other locations the salary range is $117,500 - $193,900.


A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
