Summary:

The Scrum Master serves as a key Agile leader supporting Department of Justice (DoJ) software development and modernization initiatives. This role is responsible for facilitating Agile ceremonies, promoting servant leadership, enforcing Scrum/Scrumban/Kanban best practices, and enabling high-performing teams to deliver secure, iterative solutions in a DevSecOps environment.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Agile practitioner with strong knowledge of Scrum, SAFe methodologies, and software development lifecycle processes within Federal IT environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and release planning activities.
  • Guide teams in the adoption and enforcement of Scrum, Scrumban, and Kanban methodologies and best practices.
  • Promote servant leadership principles while fostering collaboration, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across Agile teams.
  • Support iterative software development and DevSecOps delivery processes to accelerate secure and reliable solution deployment.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, developers, engineers, architects, and Government stakeholders to ensure alignment of priorities, scope, and delivery objectives.
  • Identify and remove impediments impacting team productivity and delivery timelines.
  • Track Agile metrics, sprint progress, velocity, and team performance to support continuous process optimization.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination across cross-functional teams, technical leads, and program leadership.
  • Support Agile transformation initiatives and help mature organizational Agile practices and delivery frameworks.
  • Ensure Agile development activities align with Federal compliance, security, and quality standards.
  • Encourage adoption of DevSecOps principles, automation, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
  • Mentor team members and stakeholders on Agile principles, Scrum frameworks, and Agile delivery methodologies.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience serving as a Scrum Master supporting software development or Federal IT programs.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent Agile certification required.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating Scrum, Scrumban, and Kanban teams in Agile environments.
  • Experience supporting DevSecOps and iterative software development methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks including Scrum and SAFe.
  • Experience working with software development teams in cloud or enterprise technology environments.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • SAFe certification (SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting Department of Justice (DoJ) or other Federal Civilian agencies.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and modern software delivery pipelines.
  • Experience with Agile management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Google Cloud experience or certifications considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevSecOps toolchains.


Salary Disclosure:

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications.

The upper end of the salary range may be reserved for individuals who have demonstrated tenure with the company, seniority, and proven excellent performance. This includes factors such as education, certifications, and extensive/unique experience beyond what is required.
