Overview

Our client is a financial institution providing the United States with a safe, flexible, and stable monetary system. They have a contract opening for a Scrum Master. In this role you will serve as a servant leader who facilitates Agile delivery, coaches teams toward high performance and self-organization, removes impediments, fosters collaboration and psychological safety, and drives continuous improvement while ensuring alignment with organizational Agile standards and practices.

This role is onsite in Washington, DC. Per our client contract, candidates must be US Citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a servant leader for the Agile team, supporting the F&M program on an as-needed basis.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and ensure effective Agile team execution.
  • Remove impediments that may impact team productivity and delivery.
  • Coach team members toward self-organization and high performance.
  • Navigate and address resistance to Agile practices within the team.
  • Resolve team conflicts and dysfunctions while fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Build psychological safety and promote strong team collaboration.
  • Partner closely with the Agile Coach and Product Owner to ensure effective application of Agile principles.
  • Support the team in delivering predictable value through Agile methodologies.
  • Operate independently with the team on day-to-day execution activities.
  • Adhere to the organization's Agile playbook, standards, and guidance provided by the Agile Program Manager.
  • Navigate organizational complexity to support team effectiveness.
  • Shield the team from external disruptions that may impact delivery.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and accountability across the team.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on Scrum Master experience supporting multiple teams within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM II or higher) certification required; advanced certifications such as Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) or SAFe Scrum Master preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in developing self-organizing teams, overcoming resistance to Agile adoption, and driving measurable gains in team velocity and delivery predictability.
  • Proven ability to resolve team conflicts, cultivate psychological safety, and lead teams through cultural and mindset transformations.
  • Strong skills in facilitation, conflict management, change management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience operating within established organizational Agile frameworks and playbooks while coaching teams toward increased Agile maturity.
  • Government or highly regulated industry experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computing Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant technical discipline.


  • W2 Hourly rate: $75 - 90. Pay rates are based on years experience, qualifications, and location, and are subject to change at any time.
