Position Overview

The Scrum Master will facilitate Agile Scrum practices for a cross-functional software development team, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality products. This role serves as a servant-leader, removing impediments, coaching team members in Agile principles, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Scrum Events: Plan and run daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.
  • Remove Impediments: Identify, track, and resolve blockers that hinder team progress, coordinating with stakeholders and other teams as needed.
  • Coach & Mentor: Educate the development team, Product Owner, and organization on Agile best practices, fostering self-organization and accountability.
  • Maintain Scrum Artifacts: Ensure the Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, and Increment are transparent, visible, and up-to-date.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Track velocity, burn-down/burn-up charts, and other performance indicators; present insights to stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead retrospectives to capture lessons learned and drive process enhancements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Product Owner to prioritize backlog items and clarify acceptance criteria.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between the development team and external stakeholders, ensuring clear expectations and progress updates.
  • Agile Governance: Ensure compliance with organizational Agile policies and standards.


Provides expertise to drive adoption of and consistency in agile mindset, values, principles, and practices for the team and by extension the organization. Coaches teams to increase agile maturity to achieve organizational agility. Supports agile teams by applying an end-user focus within an organization. Responsible for driving cultural change when necessary, teaching, improving agile methodologies, embracing continuous improvement, and navigating complex environments

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach in a software development environment.
  • Certification: SAFe Scrum Master Certified, Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM)
  • Methodologies: Strong understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile frameworks
  • Tools: Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, or similar Agile project-management tools

  • Soft Skills: Excellent facilitation, communication, conflict-resolution, and coaching abilities
  • Problem-Solving: Proven track record of identifying and removing impediments to maintain flow

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00

The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market(work location) and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Flexible work arrangements and schedules (e.g., 4x10), 401(k) match, Paid time off, Holidays, Parental Leave, EAP, Flexible Spending Accounts, Education Assistance, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability.
  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
