What You Will Do:

We are currently searching for Scientist to provide independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD

  • Design and conduct experiments and studies that require the application of a broad professional knowledge of scientific theories and principles.
  • Design and conduct independent experiments to complete separate previously initiated study using multi-electrode recording.
  • Perform electrophysiological recordings in association with ongoing studies to understand sensory coding and neural plasticity in the mammalian olfactory bulb.
  • Perform both slice recordings and in vivo whole animal recordings.
  • Perform electrical recordings in response to optogenetic induced light simulation.
  • Maintain and update laboratory notebooks and databases
  • Complete the data analysis associated with multi-electrode project
  • Organize data from study and assemble them in figure format appropriate for publication.
  • Prepare summaries, reports and presentations.
  • Train and provide support to staff on multi-electrode recording methods.
  • The identified candidate meets the labor category requirements provided by the customer; no additional candidates were considered.

What You Will Need:
  • PhD Degree
  • Minimum ten (10) years of biological research experience.
  • Knowledge of advanced research techniques.
  • Named as author or contributor on multiple peer-reviewed journal articles.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.
  • Incumbent capture - no other candidates were considered due to an identified incumbent who meets the labor category requirements provided by the customer

The annual salary range for this position is $149,000.00-$248,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
