Overview

Chenega is seeking to hire an experienced Scientific Data Analyst II to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP), Prevention Response Branch(PRB). This person will provide support for Support for Long Term Care and Dialysis Infection Prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Expand and facilitate communications between CDC subject matter experts and various internal and external audiences and partners (i.e. state health departments, data vendors, for-profit partners, health systems, professional societies, industry partners).
  • Lead analytic projects using proprietary, surveillance, and claims data including evaluation and use of potential data sources, including but not limited to PointClickCare, National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) data sources as well as specific health equity metrics (e.g., minority health-social vulnerability index (MH-SVI), area deprivation index).
  • Provide data analysis using SAS (while there is flexibility to use other analytic platforms, SAS and Excel skills are a must) and findings summaries for the Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) Prevention Implementation activity, working with and assisting a multidisciplinary team of epidemiologists, statisticians, health educators, medical officers, behavioral scientists, and subject matter experts in understanding data trends and providing recommendations toward improving data quality and analysis.
  • Perform data entry, cleaning, and analysis using SAS from multiple data sources including but not limited to surveys, focus groups/interviews, and surveillance systems.
  • Provide recommendations for using data for action through the use of critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making as it relates to data interpretation and evaluation.
  • Review, edit and draft up to two (2) articles and manuscripts for publication per year.
  • Develop and prepare data summaries, feedback reports, and presentations for team and/or partners.
  • Evaluate results of data analyses and interpret conclusions, applying knowledge and principles of
  • epidemiology/biostatistics as appropriate and utilizing advanced statistical methods such as longitudinal and time-series analyses.
  • Coordinate the infection prevention efforts for various projects to create partner responses to provide recommendations and guidance support to CDC partners.
  • Develop new project focus goals based on new data and findings and present to the team.
  • Develop materials for implementation of infection prevention or health equity focused interventions.
  • Collate and digest input from partners collaborating on development, implementation and evaluation of HAI, multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs), outbreak prevention, and other infection prevention strategies into formats for management review.
  • Confer with and represent the assigned program and division in meetings with offices within CDC, grantees, and external partners to foster collaborative working relationships to the benefit of the program.
  • Maintain and update technical content of infection prevention implementation educational materials.
  • Work with CDC subject matter experts to evaluate large public health program and provide recommendations for subsequent study activities.
  • Maintain databases of participation and progress for the infection preventionist training course and team inbox.

Support agency emergency response efforts if needed and within scope above.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
  • Two (2) to Four (4) or more years of relevant, direct comparable or similar work experience
  • Completed Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience to substitute.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in public health
  • Experience working infection prevention and healthcare worker safety activities.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Professional working knowledge within SharePoint
    • Professional interpersonal and computer skills, to include but not limited to, skills in operating Microsoft Office software, with emphasis on Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook as well as SharePoint.
    • Skills in managing and prioritizing multiple assignments with strict deadlines and ability to coordinate efforts among many offices.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
    • Expertise to prepare and present information/data via oral briefing(s) and/or by written reports
