Position: School Nurse (RN)Location: Cornwall Consolidated School, West Cornwall, CT
Qualifications:Applicants must:
- Hold a current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Meet the qualifications for a Connecticut school nurse in accordance with applicable Connecticut statutes and regulations.
- Hold current CPR certification.
- Have at least one year of nursing experience within the past five years; experience in pediatric, adolescent, community, or public health nursing is preferred.
- Demonstrate strong assessment, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Primary Responsibilities:The School Nurse will:
- Provide professional nursing care and emergency medical treatment to students and staff.
- Assess student health concerns and develop appropriate nursing interventions.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, state law, and Board of Education policy.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized healthcare plans and emergency care plans.
- Maintain accurate student health records and required state documentation, including immunization and health compliance records.
- Collaborate with families, physicians, school personnel, and community agencies to support student health needs.
- Participate in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings and other multidisciplinary teams as appropriate.
- Provide health education, training, and consultation to students and staff.
- Monitor communicable diseases and assist with infection prevention and public health reporting.
- Support the District's wellness initiatives and school safety and crisis response efforts.
- Perform other duties related to school health services as assigned.
Schedule: 182 workdays per year (180 student days plus two additional workdays), 6.75 hours per day, following the school calendar.
Hours: Monday Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Salary & Benefits:- Salary: Competitive, starting salary range of $42.00 - $48.00 per hour.
