Scheduling Manager to join our team in Orlando. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing project scheduling across multiple commercial construction projects while providing strategic support to Business Development, Preconstruction, Operations, and Legal throughout the project lifecycle.
As Scheduling Manager, you'll lead the development of conceptual, preconstruction, and execution schedules, provide guidance on schedule risk and delay analysis, and mentor a team of schedulers and operations personnel. You'll play a critical role in helping project teams proactively manage schedules, mitigate risk, and deliver successful projects while supporting Balfour Beatty's commitment to operational excellence.
Essential Functions- Lead the development and management of conceptual, preconstruction, baseline, and execution schedules for commercial construction projects.
- Oversee and mentor scheduling department personnel while providing technical guidance and professional development.
- Partner with Business Development, Preconstruction, Operations, and Legal to develop accurate project schedules and evaluate schedule-related risks.
- Review project schedules to ensure compliance with contract requirements and company scheduling standards.
- Conduct regular project site visits to support schedule maintenance, change order management, and schedule recovery efforts.
- Prepare schedule updates, executive reports, and graphical schedule presentations for project teams, clients, and senior leadership.
- Perform schedule analysis, fragnet development, Time Impact Analyses, and delay evaluations to support project execution and claims avoidance.
- Train project teams on scheduling best practices, scheduling software, documentation, and schedule management processes.
- Participate in financial and legal project reviews to identify, evaluate, and mitigate schedule-related risks.
- Develop and maintain company scheduling standards, historical productivity data, activity libraries, and sequencing databases to improve planning consistency.
- Maintain a watch list of projects with elevated schedule risk and provide proactive recommendations for mitigation.
- Support operations teams in documenting project impacts, defending schedule positions, and developing claim-related documentation when necessary.
- Serve as the company's scheduling subject matter expert, providing technical support and promoting continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field with 5-7 years of construction scheduling experience, or 8-10 years of progressive commercial construction scheduling experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience leading or mentoring schedulers and supporting multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.
- Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 (or equivalent scheduling software) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of CPM scheduling, constructability, schedule development, schedule recovery planning, Time Impact Analysis, and delay analysis.
- Ability to interpret contract scheduling requirements and proactively identify schedule risks and claim avoidance opportunities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence project teams, owners, architects, engineers, and executive leadership.
- Willingness to travel periodically to project sites for schedule development, project reviews, and training.
Preferred Experience- Healthcare construction experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Demonstrated success developing scheduling standards, mentoring scheduling professionals, and improving organizational scheduling practices.
