Scheduling Assistant Manger - Plymouth, MI

We are looking for a talented Scheduling Assistant Manager who is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of production schedules across two parallel manufacturing streams: engineered-to-order projects with unique technical requirements and standard configurable products with defined routings and predictable demand patterns. The role ensures that schedules reflect engineering dependencies, material readiness, capacity constraints, and customer commitments, while maintaining strong alignment between engineering, project management, supply chain, and shop-floor operations.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain production schedules that balance customer orders, capacity constraints, labor availability, and material readiness.
  • Monitor daily production performance and adjust schedules proactively to address bottlenecks, downtime, or priority changes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication with production, purchasing, quality, engineering, and warehouse teams to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Analyze capacity and resource requirements, including labor, equipment, and tooling, and recommend adjustments to meet demand including analysis of outsourcing requirements.
  • Lead scheduling or production meetings, providing updates on schedule status, risks, and recovery plans.
  • Track and report key scheduling metrics, such as engineering release processing time, on time delivery, schedule attainment, and throughput.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in scheduling workflows, planning tools, and communication practices.
  • Supervise and develop scheduling staff, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Ensure ERP data accuracy, including routings, lead times, work center capacities, and production orders.
  • Support new product introductions for engineered to order projects by integrating new processes and timelines into the production schedule.
  • Work closely with the Engineering department to provide support to the shop floor as required.
  • Support procurement team in supplier selection and analysis as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement culture within LINK, utilizing knowledge of ERP system to implement new processes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related degree.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing scheduling within environments that include both engineered-to-order and configurable standard products.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Team Management experience either by having direct reports or by leading a large-scale project managing the direction and output of others.
  • Strong understanding of engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, routings, ECNs, and configuration management.
  • Expertise with ERP/MRP systems and advanced scheduling tools; ability to model capacity and evaluate critical paths.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into realistic production plans.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating across engineering, project management, supply chain, and shop-floor teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to manage uncertainty, evolving designs, and mixed-mode production flows.
  • Preferred experience in industries such as aerospace, custom automation, industrial machinery, robotics, or other high-complexity manufacturing.
  • Preferred familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Preferred experience with project-based manufacturing and milestone-driven schedules.
  • Proficiency with Excel and scheduling tools (Gantt charts, capacity models, etc.)
  • Highly motivated and self-directed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Office-based with regular time spent on the production floor to understand process flow, constraints, and technical challenges
  • Ability to walk.
  • Ability to speak verbally and read in English.
  • Ability to see with corrective lenses.
  • Ability to hear.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.

  • Able to work evenings and/or weekends as required.
  • Able to travel up to 10% domestically.
