We are looking for a Scenographer
As a Scenographer, you bring ideas, narratives, and content to life through creative and technical design in both 2D and 3D. You contribute to the development of diverse museum experiences, including permanent, temporary, and travelling exhibitions, immersive environments, learning programs, and installations in public spaces. You also support other divisional projects that shape how audiences engage with content. Working within a structured creative process, you translate educational and cultural content into meaningful spatial experiences, presented in both physical and virtual museum environments. Your practice draws on a multidisciplinary approach, integrating industrial design, architecture, interior design, graphic design, digital and interactive media, lighting, and audiovisual production.

Your experience:
You have 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience, including:
• Professional practice in exhibition or scenographic design
• Strong command of typography, imagery, colour, and form in both 2D and 3D environments
• Development and presentation of conceptual, preliminary, and final design solutions
• Production of plans, technical drawings, and specifications for exhibition fabrication (furniture, graphic elements, etc.)
• Preparation of final production specifications for fabrication and installation
• Estimation of materials related to design proposals
• On-site quality control (construction, painting, installation of furniture, graphics, artifacts, and lighting
Your knowledge:
You have knowledge of:
• General principles of museology and exhibition design standards
• Fundamentals of architectural, industrial, and graphic design
• Advanced 2D and 3D design software
• Standards for environmental and integrated graphic design
• Construction industry standards and practices
• Materials and fabrication methods used in exhibition production
• Best practices in accessibility, ergonomics, and anthropometrics for diverse audiences
• Standards for the display and conservation of artifacts
• Lighting design techniques
• Integration of audiovisual and interactive elements in exhibitions
Education: University degree in industrial design, environmental design, or architecture, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Compensation: $79,134 to $ 97,933 (under review) (E6)
Status: Permanent Full-Time Position (#9852)
Security Level: Reliability Status
Location: 100 Laurier Street, Gatineau, Quebec OR 1 Vimy Place, Ottawa, Ontario
Specific Working Conditions: The position requires regular in-person and on-site presence, up to 5 days per week.
Application Requirement: Candidates must include the following with their application:

• A portfolio of relevant work demonstrating their experience in exhibition scenography and/or related design projects. The portfolio must include 4 to 6 recent projects (completed within the past 10 years or currently in development). A maximum of 2 conceptual projects may be included if needed.
For each project, please provide a brief description including the following elements:
• Your role and responsibilities in the project;
• The project context (client, type of exhibition or experience);
• The objectives (message, target audience, constraints);
• The creative concept and visitor experience;
• The project area (square feet or linear feet);
• The final outcome, including photographs of the installed work and/or 3D renderings for conceptual projects.
Candidates selected at the pre-screening stage will be invited to complete a case study based on one of the projects included in their portfolio as part of the selection process.
