Full Job Description
Job Summary:

The Sanitation Manager is responsible for directing all activities associated with the sanitation operation. Oversees sanitation function to ensure compliance with all Company, quality management programs and food safety systems. The Sanitation Manager ensures that all Safety, Quality (related to Sanitation), Continuous Improvement and Cost expectations are delivered.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strictly follows and enforces food safety and quality policies, GMPs and SOPs.
  • Coordinates with the department managers and QA Manager to assure proper follow up on all customer and regulatory issues (complaints, audits, and requests for information).
  • Provides leadership and guidance in directing efforts to improve, maintain and validate safety and sanitation practices and procedures.
  • She/he examines all equipment to ensure that it works properly and meets all governmental standards. In instances of violations, develops a plan to correct the situation.
  • Performs routine audits and sanitation inspection of equipment and recommend maintenance/repair needs for correction to comply with sanitation practices in accordance to state and federal sanitation regulations and company's standards.
  • Confers with management and production personnel on sanitation problems, and recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards.
  • Ensures that the unit is audit ready always and provide support in all audits.
  • Continuously verifies/validates sanitation effectiveness and propose better ways to clean/sanitize, maximizing results and minimizing cost.
  • Develops training programs related to sanitation law and company best practices and delivers these initiatives to employees in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Keeps detailed records of all sanitation related activities and issues, such as inspections and violations, also notating how and when each situation was resolved.
  • Reports any potential contamination and suspicious activity to the QA manager immediately.
  • Administers and supervises porters and third-party cleaning company.
  • Works very closely with chemical supply vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Supervises and supports lower level managers/supervisors on daily operations including:
    • Conducts performance evaluations for employees providing specific and detailed feedback on their management and leadership skills and the attainment of their respective goals and objectives
    • Ensures compliance with company Wage & Hour policy, including ensuring employees get the rest & meal breaks and ensuring company processes are followed.
    • Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labor and food expenses.
    • Monitors daily manpower planning and schedules employees. 
    • Responsible for employee retention and reducing employee turnover.
    • Responsible for coaching, counseling and preparing corrective actions for employees in compliance with the applicable union/collective bargaining agreement(s).
    • Reviews and ensures employees in chain of command are in correct cost centers and correct job titles.
    • Reviews and ensures union represented employees’ pay rates are correct based on wage scales and seniority.
    • Employee must complete all company required training including but not limited to ServSafe
    • Compliance with all company required policies, procedures and processes including but not limited to required training

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School degree or GED required. Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years sanitation and supervisory experience working in a high volume, manufacturing environment is required.
  • 2 years’ experience in the food industry or Airline related experience preferred

Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, SQF standards
  • Demonstrate a high level of communication, cooperation and teamwork with all departments

  Language / Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Bi-lingual is a plus, Vietnamese Language Skills Beneficial.
  • Must have the ability to give performance feedback to employees daily
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces sanitation regulations.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

Work Environment / Requirements of the Job:

  • Will be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise.
  • Will work with cleaning solutions, people-safe chemicals and related equipment to thoroughly clean and sanitize food service equipment and facilities.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Regularly stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours.
