The Opportunity

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Salesforce Platform team, you will take ownership of complex, high-impact Salesforce initiatives that support Ford Energy's customer relationship management, partner enablement, service operations, and energy program management functions in a B2B environment. You'll act as a technical leader and architect within the team - setting engineering standards, guiding design decisions, and mentoring other engineers - while remaining hands-on in building scalable, high-performing solutions. This is an opportunity to shape the technical direction of a rapidly growing platform at the intersection of enterprise software and clean energy innovation.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex Salesforce solutions ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with enterprise standards

Influences how things get built - design patterns, code quality, technical trade-offs within your domain

Drive the technical strategy for integrating Salesforce with enterprise systems (SAP, data warehouses) via REST/SOAP APIs, Platform Events, and middleware (MuleSoft, etc.)

Partner directly with product owners, architects, and senior business stakeholders across Ford Energy to shape technical roadmaps and translate ambiguous business needs into scalable system designs

Own critical design decisions across the full software development lifecycle, including proactive risk identification, code quality standards, testing strategy, CI/CD pipeline design, and release governance

Champion DevOps and platform governance best practices, including source control strategy, environment management, and deployment automation (e.g., Salesforce DX, Copado, Gearset)

Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex, high-severity production issues, ensuring platform reliability and data integrity for customer- and partner-facing applications

Evaluate and pilot emerging Salesforce capabilities (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Revenue Cloud, Einstein/AI, Experience Cloud, Manufacturing Cloud, Mulesoft) and make recommendations on platform strategy and adoption

Mentor and provide technical guidance to mid-level and junior engineers; conduct design/code reviews and foster a culture of engineering excellence

Collaborate with security, compliance, and enterprise architecture teams to ensure solutions meet Ford's governance, privacy, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Position Qualifications and Key Capabilities

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

6+ years of hands-on Salesforce/CRM development experience

Proven experience architecting and delivering complex Salesforce integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, Platform Events, and middleware platforms (MuleSoft, or similar)

Hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and Einstein/AI capabilities

Deep expertise in Salesforce data architecture, security model, sharing rules, and performance optimization at enterprise scale

Demonstrated experience leading technical design discussions and influencing architectural decisions across teams

Strong command of version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce deployments (e.g., Copado, Gearset, Salesforce DX)

Experience mentoring engineers and leading code/design reviews

Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

Salesforce Application Architect or System Architect certification (or progress toward Certified Technical Architect)

Hands-on experience with Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Marketing Cloud

Experience operating in a large-scale, regulated, or multi-org enterprise environment

As Ford establishes a wholly owned subsidiary focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems, this role will initially be employed by Ford and is expected to transition to the subsidiary within one year.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $99,600-$166,600., This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $115,000-$192,900.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
