Job Summary
Sales Yard Supervisor is responsible for assisting with operations and activities in a designated sales yard. Manages a team of sales associates and ensures that sales targets are met. Provides leadership, guidance, and support to the sales team to drive revenue growth and customer satisfaction. Conducts performance evaluations, sets sales goals, and identifies areas for improvement. Works closely with management to develop sales strategies and implement best practices.

Essential Functions
• Supervision of day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair activities. This position will report to the Operations Manager and assist in the management of the sales yards workforce. Responsible for SHE, quality assurance, employee relations, cost control, and budgeting activities.
• Responsible for train operation and movement and its rules and company policies. Enforce that rail car loading is being performed safely and to practices and standards.
• Ensure team members have radios, tools, and safety equipment that are being utilized and functioning at the beginning and during the workday.
• Ensure that a good understanding of daily tasks through job briefing and have good radio communication. Evaluate team member's performance
• Order parts only with the approval of the Operations Manager
• Coupling air hoses. Uncoupling cars. Applying and releasing hand brakes. Riding rail cars and climbing onto equipment.
• Manage the schedule of loading of the trains coming on our site
• Will ensure that the operating area works within a defined budget and manages costs within set budgetary guidelines and will also generate operating and project budgets for the operating area.
• Enforce safety and company policies. Knowledge of UP/Vulcan practices and standards. Conduct pre-shift safety and job briefing meetings.
• Conduct a hazard assessment of the work area, and inform team members of safety hazards found.
• Create a strong working relationship with management at shipping locations. Keep open effective lines of communication with division staff and operation level personnel.
• Provide an example of good leadership.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of rock and sand sales, OSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and quality control systems and processes.

• Results oriented - Sets challenging goals (individual and organizational) and tracks performance against these goals. Ensures that all projects/tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities

Education
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience
• Previous experience in supervising production employees preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Leadership skills and a proven team builder.
• Strong communication between, employees, management and other locations shipping product.
• Knowledge of Railroad laws, methods, materials and equipment.
• Responsible for delivering product safely while meeting the budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Problem-solving and ability to identify and resolve on-site issues and conflicts.
• Ability to plan, execute, and monitor rail projects effectively.

Other Requirements
• This role may involve physical tasks like lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Ability to work in a stressful, deadline oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making. Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Ensure team members are wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Work environment will be both indoors in an office and outside in the quarry or plant. In the office employees will occasionally be required to sit at a desk or operator's station. In the outside setting employee will perform activities at various heights, around moving machinery, be exposed to dust, fumes and gases; may be required to use hand tools or power tools. Outside setting will expose employee to changes in temperature/humidity and will require walking on uneven surfaces.
• May be required to climb steps, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crawl or reach above shoulders to accomplish functions of job.

Salary Range. The salary range for this role is between $81,114 - $121,638 annual salary. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
