Job Description

The Protective & Marine Sales Manager is responsible for increasing sales revenue and market share. Managing Sales Reps and impacting Protective & Marine market share in identifiable market segments with selected product lines. This position will achieve sales and gross margin goals and select, train, develop and directly supervise dedicated personnel to carry on outside sales functions.

Additional Information:

This position is a field position and will be expected to travel at least 50% of the time, in the New York Territory (this territory covers New York City to Baltimore, MD).

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop market strategy for sales representatives.
  • Monitor sales dollars, gallons, gross margin results of each territory.
  • Control direct sales budgets.
  • Train representatives in sales techniques and product knowledge.
  • Establish market pricing.
  • Recommend product assortment to support territory needs.
  • Conduct market surveys.
  • Plan promotional programs and sales incentive contents.
  • Establish rapport with major customers.
  • Participate in local NACE and SSPC chapters.
  • Interface with local store and branch management to ensure customer service needs are met.
  • Maintain current information on competitive activity.
  • Select, assign and control accounts in territories.


Additional Skills & Experience:
  • Proven record of, or the ability to, implement a sales territory market plan.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, including the ability to influence, prioritize, make decisions and take charge of complex activities.
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of the Protective & Marine market segment, products and applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, direct and manage a talented sales force, setting high standards of performance, coaching, training and developing employees.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1,etc.)
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted drivers license.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be willing to travel as required for this position.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have a bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Have experience as a successful large volume Store Manager, Commercial Branch Manager, or Branch Sales Manager; or as a successful Sales Rep in a large volume territory with proven sales results.
