Full Job Description
Why this role is on the menu

Instacart's Canadian Brand Partnerships team is at the ground floor of something big - we're building the first international ads sales operation from scratch, and the stakes couldn't be higher. CPG brands in Canada are hungry for a trusted partner who can translate Instacart's unique commerce data and advertising solutions into real business growth. We're hiring a Sales Executive to own a portfolio of some of the largest CPG advertisers in Canada and turn those relationships into long-term, high-value partnerships. This role sits at the intersection of digital advertising, retail media, and CPG strategy - and the person who fills it will have a direct line of sight to how Canadian brands invest and grow on Instacart.
What you'll cook up in your first year
  • A thriving book of business of 10-15 CPG accounts - with strong retention, growing investment, and partners who consistently renew and expand because they see measurable results from Instacart's advertising solutions.
  • New advertiser relationships activated across previously non-engaged Canadian CPG brands, expanding Instacart's Canadian ads footprint and creating a pipeline of incremental revenue.
  • Trusted executive-level relationships within your client portfolio - where you're seen not just as a vendor, but as a strategic advisor on how to win on Instacart and in Canadian digital commerce.
  • A repeatable consultative sales motion - grounded in data, tailored storytelling, and compelling case studies - that demonstrates Instacart's platform value in terms that CPG partners actually care about.
  • A seamless partner experience in collaboration with Account Management and cross-functional teams, where handoffs are tight, client needs are proactively surfaced, and no opportunity falls through the cracks.
The secret ingredients we're looking for

We're looking for a commercially driven, intellectually curious sales professional who gets genuinely excited about the intersection of CPG, data, and digital advertising - someone who builds trust quickly, digs into the numbers, and knows how to translate insights into a compelling pitch.

Must-have pantry staples (Minimum Qualifications)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a sales environment, including 2-3+ years in digital advertising or CPG sales
  • Proven track record managing client relationships and partnering to drive measurable, attributable growth
  • Comfort analyzing and speaking to CPG and advertising insights, KPIs, and business performance metrics
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and take initiative in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills - you can build a story with data and deliver it compellingly
  • Strong client service orientation - fast follow-ups, a sense of ownership, and accountability for outcomes
  • Familiarity with standard sales tools (Microsoft Office / Excel, Google Drive, Salesforce) and experience working with large data sets to extract business insights (SQL, Tableau a plus)

Optional garnishes (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Deep fluency in the Canadian CPG landscape through direct sales experience or comparable exposure to how CPG brands plan and buy media
  • Experience selling at a retail media company, with a track record of hitting quota while building lasting client relationships
  • Demonstrated history of consistent quota attainment alongside strong client satisfaction - you close and you keep
  • Familiarity with AI tools and an openness to integrating them into how you work and sell

About Instacart

Instacart is an American company that operates a grocery delivery and pick-up service in the United States and Canada. The company offers its services via a website and mobile app. The service allows customers to order groceries from participating retailers with the shopping being done by a personal shopper. Instacart was founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Apoorva Mehta, a former Amazon.com employee. Apoorva was born in India and moved with his family to Canada in 2000. He studied engineering at the University of Waterloo and graduated in 2008. He was a participant in Y Combinator's Summer 2012 batch, which eventually led to the creation of Instacart. In 2013, Mehta was included on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Apoorva previously worked at BlackBerry, Qualcomm, and then Amazon as a supply chain engineer, where he developed fulfillment systems to move packages from Amazon's warehouses to customers' homes. Before founding Instacart, Apoorva had tried to start at least 20 other services. He tried building an ad network for social gaming companies, and developing a social network specifically for lawyers, among other start-ups. Instacart originally launched in San Francisco. By April 2015, the firm had about 200 employees. It introduced a new policy around June allowing some shoppers to choose to be part-time employees, starting with Chicago and Boston and extending its offer to shoppers in Atlanta, Miami, and Washington D.C. the following month.
