Job Title: Sales Excellence Manager

Location: Reston VA (Hybrid)

Salary Range: $130,000.00- $140,000.00

Purpose of Role:

The Sales Excellence Manager drives Sales Team performance through the delivery of targeted training initiatives and professional development opportunities in an atmosphere of continuous learning. They promote a culture of accountability fueled by key performance indicators (KPIs) and sales metrics, celebrating goal accomplishment and identifying growth opportunities. Analyzing market trends, customer needs and emerging opportunities, they implement actionable strategies to drive and expand revenue across existing and new markets. The successful incumbent for this role will have a proven track record of revenue growth, exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills and a commitment to team development.

Your Impact:

  • Coach, develop, and inspire the Sales Team to consistently exceed performance goals by fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and best-practice sharing.
  • Analyze market conditions, industry trends, and performance data to identify growth opportunities within existing accounts, emerging markets, and new business segments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers within the laboratory industry.
  • Lead the Sales Team in adapting strategies to evolving customer and industry demands while ensuring organizational growth commitments are achieved.
  • Monitor sales metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), with a strong emphasis on lead management, pipeline accuracy, forecasting, and CRM utilization.
  • Design and implement targeted training programs to improve sales effectiveness, KPI performance, and overall team capability.
  • Partner with the Marketing Department to support hosted and industry events, assist in the development of promotional and sales materials, and contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance GSS visibility and support business growth.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration across all GSS departments to improve communication, operational alignment, and customer experience.


What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading, hiring, developing, and holding accountable professional staff, including employees with advanced skills and established career paths, while fostering high performance, growth, and organizational success
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive sales experience with a demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent negotiation capabilities and attention to detail, with a focus on achieving successful business outcomes and maintaining operational accuracy.
  • Ability to tend to multiple priorities under time- critical constraints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with the ability to effectively analyze data, develop professional presentations, and support business communication and reporting needs.


Education/ Experience that will Make You Stand Out:

  • Strong background in the scientific and laboratory industries, as well as the broader government procurement industry.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring and optimizing sales commission programs.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing enterprise business systems and CRM platforms, including Salesforce, Microsoft Business Central, and related tools, to support operational efficiency, sales pipeline forecasting, customer engagement, and reporting.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.

Travel Required:

Up to 25% travel to strategic customer locations, industry events, training sessions, supplier sites, and for shadowing direct reports to support development and operational effectiveness.

Additional Details:

  • Eligible for annual discretionary profit-sharing bonus, targeted at 25%, subject to company's performance.
