This is a technical sales engineer position. You will handle a geographic territory providing solutions to our customers. You will be required to establish and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers to grow sales in your territory.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage customer relationships
- Onsite and in-office customer application consulting combined with proactive and reactive selling to new and existing customers
- Perform all steps of the sales cycle from investigation of new clients, to assessing the customer’s needs, recommending solutions, closing sales and providing post-sale support
- The sales engineer must interface with key suppliers and act as an advocate for the customer in the applications process, the quoting process, the post-sales support process, and the returns and repair process when necessary
- Utilize the company’s CRM to enter and update customer and supplier information and track opportunities
- Manage the pre-sale and post-sale technical support needs of the customer
- Develop the skills of cold calling, lead follow-up, performing on site product marketing, training, and involving suppliers when necessary
- Expected 6-9 customer visits per week to discover new, and further develop existing opportunities
- Assist with trade shows and work the booth as needed
- Assist with customer training and supplier or Olympus sponsored seminars
- Assist with supplier management activities when required; primarily by attending supplier events and performing joint sales calls
- Establish and maintain relationships and provide referrals to integrator partners
- Respond to customer complaints and quality issues
- Respond to customer and coworker action items within 24 hours and provide updates every 24 hours to ongoing tasks
- Cover the duties for inside sales, applications engineers and other sales associates as needed (vacation schedules, sick days, emergencies, etc)
- Keep track of demo equipment in your possession or loaned to customers via Olympus’ tracking system
- Create quotes in accordance with Olympus standards
- Travel to customer sites, typically within your territory, to evaluate application details and work with suppliers to provide solutions
- Out of region travel required for training - up to 10 weeks in the first year depending on existing knowledge and up to 1 week a year there after
- Develop a territory plan and execute the plan throughout the fiscal year
- Complete Professional Sales System (PSS) training and consistently use PSS sales tools
- 50-hour work weeks are the standard for a successful sales engineer
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Experience:
- Mechanical, Electrical, Software and/or Mechatronics Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a technical field
- Limited knowledge of Olympus products or functionally equivalent competitor products
In accordance with applicable wage transparency law requirements, the typical estimated total compensation for this position is$78,000.00 - $126,000.00per year depending on experience, including potential bonus opportunities. Bonus amounts can be tied to company, location and/or individual performance, but no specific amount is guaranteed.
