As a Sales Director US, you will have a key role in scaling Akur8's business in our number one priority market. You will own the US territory with the mindset of a business owner, taking responsibility for territory strategy, quota, pipeline, forecast, partnerships, strategic accounts, and revenue performance.The United States is a large and sophisticated insurance market, with national and regional carriers, reinsurers, MGAs, brokers, InsurTechs, and specialized lines businesses. You will use your knowledge of the US insurance industry to identify where Akur8 can create measurable value, open relationships with senior decision-makers, and turn market insight into new business across Tier 1 accounts and other priority segments.
You will lead complex enterprise sales from first conversation through contract signature and expansion. You will be part of our North American sales team and work closely with actuarial data science, solutions, marketing, customer success, product, and leadership teams. You will also build trusted relationships with consulting and technology partners that can extend Akur8's reach across the United States.RESPONSIBILITIESThis will include, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:
- As a Sales Director, you will be responsible for owning your territory and the associated quota
- Identify new opportunities within existing accounts, but also exploring every segment and lines of business to sign new logos within your territory
- Manage the entire sales cycle, from prospecting to contract negotiation, and managing the relationship post close, with a focus driving tight sales cycles
- Build relationships with Chief Actuaries, Chief Underwriting Officers, Chief Data Officers, CIOs, CFOs, CTOs and other senior decision-makers.
- Work on and submitting proposals, as well as negotiating contracts with clients
- Build strong, long-lasting relationships with strategic prospects and clients
- Think out of the box, suggesting new ideas and approaches to improve our product, based on client expectations
This role is ideally based in our New York City office, though we are also open to remote candidates located in the Eastern or Central time zones of the United States. Frequent travel will be required for business development events and client meetings.We are looking for a senior enterprise sales leader who understands the US insurance industry and can sell complex software to large, multi-stakeholder organizations. You have the commercial judgement to create a territory strategy, the industry knowledge to earn credibility with insurance executives, and the discipline to deliver against a demanding quota.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES• 10+ years of professional experience, including substantial experience in B2B enterprise sales, insurance technology, actuarial consulting, underwriting, pricing, reserving, or insurance transformation is a big plus.
• A proven record of carrying a quota and closing complex, high-value software or technology contracts with US insurance organizations.
• Deep understanding of how US insurers make decisions about pricing, reserving, underwriting, data, risk, and technology investments.
• Experience selling to senior insurance stakeholders and building support across actuarial, underwriting, data, IT, procurement, finance, risk, and legal teams.
• Experience managing long sales cycles with several decision-makers, formal procurement, competing priorities, and executive scrutiny.
• A genuine new-business mindset. You enjoy opening doors, creating demand, and building relationships where Akur8 has no established path.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the executive presence to lead high-value commercial conversations.
• A collaborative working style and the autonomy to manage a territory while partnering closely with teams across Akur8.
WHAT WILL SET YOU APART• Experience selling complex insurance software including pricing, reserving, actuarial, underwriting, risk, data, core systems or analytics software.
• Existing relationships with senior decision-makers across the US insurance markets.
