Full Job Description
This position reports to:
Sales Manager

The Sales Development Leader (SDL) is responsible for driving district-wide growth execution across Colorado, New Mexico, North Texas, and Oklahoma. The SDL serves as the district's growth catalyst by identifying ecosystem opportunities, accelerating pull-through demand, deploying growth initiatives, improving strategic opportunity visibility, and developing agency sales capabilities.

The SDL works closely with Agency Sales Teams, Agency RVPs, Industrial Sales Specialists (ISS), Market Development Managers (MDMs), and District Leadership to ensure ABB growth strategies are translated into measurable business results.

This role does not own territory management, revenue forecasting, customer account ownership, distributor management, or technical specification development. Instead, the SDL focuses on creating future growth by improving opportunity creation, ecosystem engagement, share gain initiatives, and strategic market execution.

The work model for the role is: Remote in TX. Dallas Fort Worth area is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Ecosystem Growth Development
  • Coordinate ecosystem growth efforts by identifying strategic opportunities and aligning ABB and agency resources toward priority pursuits.
  • Develop ecosystem maps that improve visibility to strategic projects and future market activity.
  • Identify areas of ABB under penetration and develop growth plans to improve market share.
  • Promote pull-through demand creation that ultimately converts into distributor sales growth.


Strategic Opportunity Management
  • Facilitate district strategic opportunity reviews and growth discussions in partnership with Agency RVPs and Agency Sales Teams.
  • Develop visibility to major projects and opportunities early in the project lifecycle.
  • Support pursuit planning and resource coordination for strategic opportunities.
  • Track project progression and identify barriers to opportunity advancement.
  • Promote disciplined opportunity management across all agency sales offices.


Agency Growth & Sales Enablement
  • Partner with agency sales teams to strengthen opportunity creation and ecosystem engagement.
  • Coach and support agency personnel on strategic opportunity development.
  • Promote best-practice sharing across representative organizations.
  • Support onboarding and development of agency personnel within growth-focused markets.
  • Assist agency RVPs and district leadership in executing district growth initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial sales, channel development, business development, strategic growth, or related commercial leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success working through indirect sales channels.
  • Experience developing growth initiatives and strategic market programs.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority in a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the district.
  • Experience working with manufacturers' representative organizations, and experience within Data Centers, Water/Wastewater & Infrastructure, Semiconductor, Power Generation, OEM, or Panel Builder markets is preferred.
