THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

Base Salary: CAD $72,521.00 - 109,341.00

The Sales Compensation Analyst supports GreenShield's sales performance by administering and analyzing Sales Incentive Plans (SIPs) across Insurance, Health, and Administration. In this individual contributor role, you will be responsible for the accurate execution, analysis, and reporting of incentive programs within established plan designs and governance frameworks.

You will partner closely with Sales, Finance, and People & Culture to ensure incentive plans are applied consistently, payments are accurate and timely, and performance insights are clearly communicated. This role combines hands-on operational execution with analytical support, contributing to continuous improvement of sales compensation processes while operating within approved policies and decision structures.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Incentive Administration & Accuracy
  • Calculate, validate, and reconcile sales incentive payouts (commissions and bonuses) using advanced Excel models and supporting data files.
  • Maintain incentive plan logic, rates, quotas, and participant data, ensuring strong data controls, validation checks, and version management.
  • Investigate variances or discrepancies in incentive results and resolve issues in collaboration with Finance and Sales Operations.
  • Prepare and distribute compensation plan documents (e.g., SIP letters, target sheets, terms and conditions) and support employee understanding of plan mechanics.

Inquiries & Issue Resolution
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for sales compensation questions and payout inquiries.
  • Review and validate incentive results against plan rules and performance data, providing clear, professional explanations to sales team members and leaders.
  • Escalate complex or policy-related issues as appropriate and implement approved resolutions.

Analysis & Reporting Support
  • Analyze sales results and incentive payout data to support performance reporting and plan effectiveness reviews.
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports for Sales and Finance stakeholders, highlighting trends, variances, and areas for attention.
  • Support incentive modeling and scenario analysis by preparing data, calculations, and forecasts under defined assumptions and guidance.

Governance, Controls & Process Improvement
  • Execute incentive processes in accordance with approved plan designs, financial controls, and compensation policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of calculation methodologies, assumptions, and process steps.
  • Support sales incentive governance routines by preparing analysis, documentation, and implementation support for approved plan changes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in incentive administration, including enhancements to Excel models and data workflows.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales Operations, Finance, and People & Culture to ensure accurate data flow and aligned reporting.
  • Act as a subject matter resource on incentive calculations and plan mechanics, contributing practical, execution-focused input to discussions and initiatives.


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • 3+ years of experience in sales compensation, incentive administration, sales operations, or a related analytical or financial role.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated experience performing complex calculations and reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (e.g., formulas, pivot tables; macros or Power Query an asset).
  • Ability to explain technical compensation concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in regulated or multi-line-of-business environments is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, HR, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
