Salary Range: $70,000 - $95,000 based on experience

Job Summary

The Sales & Applications Engineer is responsible for the technical support of Leach's sales and marketing team. They act as the primary source of technical information during the sales process, as well as the ongoing support of our products installed in the field. The Sales Engineer works under minimal supervision, in close coordination with Sales Executives, Customer Service and Business Unit Managers to provide timely and accurate technical sales support. Through direct interaction with current and potential customers, they assess needs and requirements, delivering technical presentations, product solutions, and other data as required, supporting the sales process.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Help define appropriate applications of technology to address end applications and articulate customers' requirements and needs.
  • Develop and present sales support material, including marketing and training presentations, white papers, etc.
  • Research and understand existing solutions and all competitive product offerings
  • Develop deep knowledge of underlying technology and product lines for electromechanical and solid state switching components.
  • Take part in specification reviews and help respond in a timely manner to customer requests.
  • Support Sales and Marketing activities including through direct engagement with customers.
  • Provide market intelligence (market trends, competitive information, regulatory issues, product strengths and weaknesses based on customer feedback, etc.) and contributes to the company's knowledge base.
  • Drive sales improvements by identifying and implementing new processes and technology such as marketing and website innovations.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; growing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Actively contributes to the Business Unit team effort by accomplishing related actions as needed.
  • Works in a collaborative and team environment. Liaising with management, engineering and production.
  • Actively participates in the Quality Management System.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years' experience in aerospace and defense or equivalent.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; sales and marketing experience a plus.
  • Computer literate including MS office and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
  • Proficient command of English operational and legal language - written and oral.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of Company customers and management staff.
  • Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and balance workload.
  • Direct experience interacting with customers.
  • Strong Presentation Skills.
  • Travel up to 20%.
