Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Manager, Sales and Client Growth – Late Stage Company and Investor Relationships based in our San Francisco or Silicon Valley offices.

 

The Objective: The Manager, Sales and Client Growth – Late Stage Company and Investor Relationships is a market-facing professional who assists in identifying opportunities and drives execution on expanding client and investor relationships, obtaining feedback, and increasing satisfaction in close collaboration with partners and business development professionals. This role focuses on expanding and creating new strategic relationships for some of the firm’s most important high-growth companies and the investors that support them.

 

What will I do? Working in close partnership with partners and firm and business development leadership teams, the Manager will raise the firm’s profile in key markets, sectors, and practices, and collaborate with a broader business development team on pitches. The role will facilitate client-focused collaboration and coordination among partners, across practices and geographies, with a strategic focus on revenue growth through expansion and deepening key relationships with high-growth and scaling clients in the Tech and Life Science Sectors, leveraging the full platform of Orrick’s destination practices. Metrics for success will include both quantitative data on revenue impact and qualitative feedback from partners and other professional stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

Program & Project Management

  • Support and execute program and project management related to key market-facing and client and investor initiatives, coordinating across both internal and external stakeholders.

Network Development & Relationship Building

  • Track and manage personal and firm networks of entrepreneurs, executives, investors, bankers, thought leaders, and other connectors to further support and expand existing top-tier client relationships and opportunities.
  • Create, nurture, and maintain a network of value-driven professionals across legal, finance, and business operations functions for the purpose of delivering unique support, introductions, and insights to our broad range of client relationships.

Client Advisory & Revenue Growth

  • Advise and guide current top clients for strategic growth and expansion of their legal and business needs.
  • Manage internal programs alongside key client relationships to become a go-to resource connecting clients and partners across the Orrick platform for cross-selling opportunities globally.
  • Create actionable individual business development plans for a select group of clients.
  • Actively support high-level client events, sponsorships, and educational programs to drive sales pipeline outcomes and increase ROI (e.g., CEO dinners, in-house counsel forum, high-profile CLE programs, total access, etc.).

Thought Leadership & Coaching

  • Create relevant market thought leadership across a range of topics, for distribution both internally and externally.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Orrick at major tech market programs and events.
  • Coach lawyers on how to win when competing for the business.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support Jobs Referral Network.
  • Take ownership of special projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • 7 + years of experience in a focusing on Business Development, Marketing, Communications, Sales or related commercial subjects, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Four-year Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong understanding of the tech ecosystem and market participants – essential
  • Proven knowledge of the legal and professional services sectors – highly desirable.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and developing relationships with them.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
  • Strong judgment and ability to make well-reasoned independent decisions.
  • Strategic awareness of business and commercial issues.
  • Self-motivated and independent, able to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Project management skills, and an aptitude for developing these skills.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence others.
  • High degree of attention to detail.

Compensation and Benefits

 

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • Silicon Valley and San Francisco $150,000 - $195,000

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography.  Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
