Full Job Description
Work Location & Travel Expectations

This role supports projects across the United States and requires a high level of travel based on business and project needs. Candidates may be based anywhere within the U.S.; however, the selected individual should be prepared for assignments at various project locations nationwide. Travel for this position may reach up to approximately 90%.

Project assignments generally last 10 to 17 months, depending on project duration and operational requirements. While assigned to a project away from home, eligible employees are provided per diem to assist with temporary living and travel-related expenses, in addition to a competitive base salary.

To support project deployment, mobilization assistance may be provided, which can include mileage reimbursement or other approved travel support. Employees may also receive extended weekend rotations approximately once per month, allowing additional time for travel home.

Depending on project requirements, eligible employees could be provided with either a company-issued vehicle and fuel card or a vehicle allowance to support travel needs.

Position Overview

The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and promoting all aspects of project safety to ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and site-specific safety plans. This role supports the development and implementation of safety programs, emergency protocols, incident investigations, reporting audits, and safety initiatives while providing leadership, technical guidance, and mentorship to project teams. The Safety Manager fosters a "Zero Harm" safety culture focused on accountability, and achieving safe, high-quality projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Site-Specific Safety Plan
  • Ensure site emergency protocols and medical services are established for the project
  • Coordinate procurement and distribution of required safety equipment
  • Support project-specific safety campaigns, recognition programs, and initiatives
  • Participate in internal and external project kickoff meetings
  • Ensure all project activities are performed safely and in compliance with environmental standards
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly safety reports
  • Lead reviews of incident and near-miss investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Analyze site observations and audit results to identify safety trends and improvement opportunities
  • Manage and mentor staff in alignment with P&E safety standards and expectations
  • Serve as the primary liaison to site management regarding safety technical guidance and compliance matters
  • Facilitate project team reviews of safety incidents and near misses to support continuous learning
  • Compile final project safety metrics, including hours worked, incidents, and near misses, for closeout reporting
  • Coordinate inventory and return of project safety equipment
  • Provide leadership with feedback and recommendations regarding overall project safety performance
  • Ensure compliance with all company processes, procedures, and policies; Promote and uphold the highest standards of safety performance and accountability
  • Foster a positive safety culture through leadership, communication, and example
  • Support P&E's commitment to being a preferred partner by delivering safe, high-quality project outcomes that meet evolving customer needs
  • Deliver projects with zero recordable incidents, lost-time accidents, or fatalities
  • Complete required safety observations and reporting activities
  • Ensure full compliance with P&E safety standards and site-specific safety plans; Champion and model the P&E Safety Culture through daily actions and communication
  • Ensure all employees understand and follow company safety processes and procedures

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of applicable experience in progressive safety leadership roles
  • Must hold valid safety certification from BCSP, such as CHST, ASP, SMP, CSP, or other credential from other recognized institution, or equivalent experience and credentials
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • Working knowledge of OCIP/CCIP insurance programs
  • Advanced knowledge of heavy industrial construction industry
  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Work Environment & Physical Demands
