About Your Role

The Safety Manager is responsible for leading and enforcing safety programs across construction projects to ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, standards, and project requirements. The District-Wide Safety Manager will work closely with Program Management, College Project Teams, Contractors, and Safety Representatives to identify risks, monitor compliance, investigate incidents, and ensure construction activities are performed safely and in accordance with all applicable regulations and contractual requirements. initiatives.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Safety Management, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field.


What You'll Need to Get the Job Done
  • 10+ years of commercial construction experience in the U.S. with a General Contractor.
  • 5+ years of California construction experience with a General Contractor or major subcontractor.
  • 2+ years supporting educational construction projects in occupied campus environments.
  • Experience managing field safety on multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Experience with demolition, renovation, modernization, and new construction.
  • Experience working under OCIP programs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with hazardous materials abatement and environmental remediation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and construction software.
  • Ability to travel throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
  • Experience supporting large public-sector capital improvement programs.
  • Experience with K-12 or Higher Education construction programs.
  • Additional professional safety certifications.

What You'll Do
  • Provide district-wide management oversight of construction safety activities across multiple active project sites.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and project safety requirements.
  • Conduct daily construction safety inspections and work-in-progress reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements.
  • Support the Program Safety Manager with meetings, reports, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Lead safety discussions during project meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Review upcoming construction activities for hazard preparedness.
  • Prepare Daily Safety Reports and Weekly Health, Safety & Environmental Observation Reports.
  • Review contractor safety documentation including JHAs, MOPs, Fall Protection Plans, Crane Lift Plans, Excavation Plans, Scaffold Plans, Confined Space Plans, and other high-risk operations.
  • Review incident reports, participate in safety stand-downs, and prepare Lessons Learned reports.
  • Conduct safety orientations for contractor safety representatives.
  • Monitor compliance with zero-tolerance safety policies and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate safety oversight across multiple Los Angeles project sites.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication with Owners, Contractors, and Project Teams.

Salary Range
  • $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 annually
