POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

The Safety Manager is responsible for all ALMS and subcontracted work activities to ensure all work is completed safely and that the work environment meets all safety standards for all employees. Unsafe situations are identified and immediately corrected to meet acceptable standards.
  • Assists the Safety/Environmental Manager and/or applicable manager; Operations or Project Manager, in day-to-day on-site environmental/safety regulatory compliance administration.
  • Performs safety audits in accordance to outlined processes, files reports timely, and maintains organized file system in both soft and hard copies.
  • Investigates employee accidents, completes all reports timely, and forwards to the appropriate entities, and ensures any needed corrective actions are identified and completed.
  • Supports injured employees receive appropriate occupational health assistance, completes all Company forms, and stays informed of employees' work status. Makes necessary recommendations and keeps those effected informed.
  • Develops job safety analyses (JSA's) to support restricted duty work assignments, claims management, and development of standard operating procedures.
  • Contributes with the reviewing, tracking, and maintaining of personnel environmental/safety training requirements, updates, and maintenance of up-to-date records.
  • Performs risk assessments in the workplace including shops and offices.
  • Maintains up-to-date records on employees requiring annual physicals for exposures, respirator fit, Hepatitis B vaccines, and others identified.
  • Performs safety surveys (e.g., noise surveys, air monitoring, time and motion studies) to support personal protective equipment policies.
  • Aids and supports facility as the day-to-day representative at the facility. Reports all findings and stays within accepted protocol and standard operating procedures.
  • Responsible for contract and regulatory compliance and construction inspections as required per contract agreements.
  • Completes regularly outlined general facility inspection and environmental compliance monitoring.
  • Maintains all relevant records in an organized and retrievable system.
  • Supports in the Environmental Permits actions in Air, Water, and disposal of hazardous water by following accepted guidelines and standards of operation.
  • Assists with Air Quality compliance tasks including monitoring, emissions, and hazardous pollutants and communicates findings to site management.
  • Reviews and assists in updating Safety/Environmental Management Plans (air, waste stream management (hazardous, non-regulated, universal, non-hazardous), hazardous material, water quality, environmental training, storm-water, environmental compliance assessment and program management.
  • Performs environmental compliance inspections, surveys, and assessments for Lead Paint and Asbestos, Waste Management, and all other related functions and makes recommendations based on well-known or researched data that is within the scope of the work.
  • Supports daily the oversight of Initial Accumulation Point (IAP) & waste stream collection centers.
  • Inspects subcontractors performing work for or on behalf of ALMS at this project location.
  • Coordinates with subcontractor functional managers and supervisors to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of all tasks are completed safely and within accepted standards.
  • Reports to the Project Manager on all tasks, results of surveys, inspections, and observations relating to the performance of ALMS and subcontractor personnel.
  • Ensures scheduled and random sampling inspections are properly performed and documented within assigned time constraints.
  • Verifies and defines customer complaints, represents management in a professional and knowledgeable manner in the field and recommends resolutions to customer complaints.
  • Follows Government, ALMS furnished information directives, standard operating procedures, etc.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
  • Ensuring that project complies with all safety regulations stated in 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, as well as state standards to avoid in fines, civil penalties, or criminal prosecution.
  • Timely, accurate, and cost effective performance of duties.
  • Working closely and harmoniously with fellow workers, local customer officials and regulatory agency personnel.
  • Maintains assigned work schedule.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all facility and ALMS related matters.
  • Supporting office challenges and changing directives.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree or applicable experience.
  • Resume supporting a minimum of 4 years technical experience directly related to safety management support functions.
  • Current state driver's license.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Skilled in Government contracting terminology and requirements.
  • Experience in safety/environmental regulations and requirements necessary to perform the contractual obligations at this project location.
  • Experience in accident investigation and reporting principles and practices.
  • Skilled in hazardous waste management, manifesting, and shipping.
  • Experience with environmental compliance assessment and program management.
  • Basic experience in equipment maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA & EPA regulations.


The pay range information provided is a general guideline. The pay rate offered will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as geographic locations, market data, and other business considerations, as permitted by law.
