Full Job Description
Job Title: Safety and Environmental Specialist

Location: Richmond, Virginia

Starting Compensation Range: $79,000 - $101,000 per year

The Safety and Environmental Specialist works closely with the EHS team to implement and coordinate and further the safety, health, and environmental program of all of Carter Machinery's locations and departments.

Requirements for the Safety & Environmental Specialist position include:
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in computer-based technology
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook
  • Must be able to learn environmental, health, and safety concepts and provide expertise to branches
  • Must be able to quickly evaluate facts and maintain good judgment when making decisions
  • Must possess ability to develop safety policies and procedures to comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) rules and regulations
  • Must be able to assist the EHS Team in addressing specific reporting and recordkeeping of regulatory agencies
  • Must be willing to work extra hours, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet business demands
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Requires strong organizational skills
  • Must have an excellent driving record

Seeking Candidates with:
  • Minimum five years' occupation safety and health experience
  • Experience leading others in achieving environmental, health, and safety program excellence on a company level
  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field, preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Required to sit and talk or hear
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus
