Safety and Environmental Manager to lead the Division's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. In this critical leadership role, you will drive compliance, risk reduction, employee safety, and environmental stewardship while ensuring adherence to industry standards, customer requirements, and corporate policies.
What You'll DoLead Safety & Environmental Strategy: Develop and manage SWGD safety and environmental targets, objectives, and programs. Monitor progress and document performance against established goals.
Drive Compliance & Auditing Activities: Establish, coordinate, perform, and participate in internal EHS audits. Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and verified for effectiveness.
Conduct Risk Assessments: Lead safety risk assessments, document results, and implement procedures and practices to minimize workplace hazards and operational risks.
Manage Environmental Permitting & Reporting: Maintain programs required to support state and local environmental permits, including inspections, testing, reporting activities, and permit renewals or modifications.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate closely with Corporate EHS personnel to ensure compliance with MEPPI requirements and applicable federal, state, local, and MELCO environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Monitor Regulatory Changes: Stay informed of new and changing EHS regulations and facilitate implementation of required changes within the Division.
Lead Safety Committee Activities: Coordinate and lead SWGD Safety Committee meetings to promote employee engagement and continuous improvement.
Manage Incident Investigations: Lead investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation for workplace incidents and accidents.
Support Training & Emergency Preparedness: Manage and contribute to employee EHS training programs, new employee orientations, and emergency response drills.
Prepare Performance Reports: Develop and distribute monthly safety and environmental performance reports to Division leadership and stakeholders.
Develop & Lead Team Members: Manage staff in accordance with Company policies; provide coaching, development opportunities, cross-training, performance reviews, and compensation recommendations.
Promote Division Excellence: Further the goals and professional image of SWGD through effective collaboration with other MEPPI departments, divisions, customers, and external stakeholders.
Champion Quality, Safety & Environmental Culture: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of MEPPI's Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and ensure their importance is communicated throughout the organization.
Additional Responsibilities- Participate in industry associations and professional organizations.
- Prepare and submit required safety and environmental reports to support MEPPI initiatives and compliance requirements.
- Represent SWGD at Mitsubishi Electric U.S. (MEUS) environmental and safety meetings and functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You BringEducation & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 8-10 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety roles within a manufacturing environment
- Previous supervisory and/or project management experience
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Technical Expertise- Advanced knowledge of comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs and best practices
- Strong understanding of EHS regulations, compliance requirements, and risk management principles
- Working knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies
