Full Job Description
S&L is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead environmental compliance, sustainability, and risk-management programs across our industrial operations. This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations while partnering with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership to continuously improve environmental performance.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on environmental professional with strong regulatory knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex environmental requirements into practical solutions for industrial operations.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the site's environmental compliance program.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable EPA, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage air emissions, wastewater/stormwater, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, chemical management, and spill prevention programs.
  • Maintain environmental permits, records, procedures, and regulatory documentation.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports, notifications, permit applications, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Conduct environmental inspections, audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions for environmental findings.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for environmental regulators, consultants, and third-party auditors.
  • Lead environmental incident investigations, including spills, releases, permit deviations, and potential violations.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training for employees and contractors.
  • Establish environmental performance metrics and communicate results to site and corporate leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, emissions, energy consumption, water use, and environmental risk.
  • Manage environmental consultants, contractors, sampling programs, and project budgets as needed.
  • Stay current on regulatory developments and evaluate their potential impact on company operations.
