Job Description

The Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) seeks an Informatica Intelligence Data Management Cloud (IDMC) ETL Developer to provide support for the critical agency Data Warehouse (DW) that supports LoneStar Oil and Gas applications, and GIS Enterprise cloudification applications. Performs advanced (seniorlevel) Informatica Intelligence Data Management Cloud (IDMC) ETL work. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The IDMC developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining data integration solutions, data pipelines using IDMC API, and related ETL tools. The role involves working closely with data architects, analysts, and project teams to ensure accurate, secure, and highperformance data flows between cloud and onpremises systems. This role provides technical leadership for consuming data as well as configuration, maintenance, and performance of a critical data pipeline that has complex data flow between multiple platforms using multiple tools, technologies, and consuming tools that include MuleSoft, SQL Server Integration Service, MS SQL Server databases products (SSIS), Snowflake, and Power BI (Data Analysis Expressions DAX). The candidate is expected to perform complex ETL task flows development and research work. Candidates must also be capable of planning and assigning work to others and of reviewing and analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processes or improve existing systems. The successful person will work with minimal direction, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment. This is a handson position requiring solid technical skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Essential Job Duties

  • Coordinate and provide IDMC triage support to troubleshoot and resolve functional and performance issues encountered in production, development, and test environments
  • Design, recommend, and implement procedures necessary for task flows and the pipeline.
  • Develop standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the IDMC environment
  • Run IDMC task flows in production environments to fix data issues
  • Design & Development: Create and enhance ETL task flows, mappings, and transformations in IDMC, ensuring alignment with data architecture and business requirements. Be able to build the Fact & Dimensions table, populate data with Push Down Optimization
  • Integration & Migration: Develop and maintain ETLbased applications for data migration, integration, and transformation between cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Salesforce, Snowflake, OpenSystems) and onpremises databases
  • Performance & Optimization: Optimize data workflows for speed, scalability, and resource efficiency; monitor and improve ETL performance
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement and manage data quality rules, governance policies, and metadata management in IDMC
  • Testing & Support: Perform unit and integration testing; troubleshoot and resolve ETLrelated issues; provide postproduction support
  • Documentation: Document workflows, mappings, and integration processes for clarity and auditability
  • Collaboration: Work with project managers, technical leads, and business users to meet deadlines and deliver highquality solutions
  • Tooling: Proficient in IDMC, and related ETL tools; experience with Snowflake, Salesforce, SQL Server, Oracle, and Linux environments
  • Partner with internal IT teams (Data Platform, Integration, Security, Infrastructure)
  • Review IDMC Release Readiness, work on Release Types, Preparation, Deployment, and Upgrade tasks, and patches as required
  • Align roadmap, platform improvements, and service standards with the IDMC Service Owner
  • Participate in solution designs and architectural reviews
  • Communicating operational impacts with technical and business stakeholders
  • Performance tuning and ensuring high levels of availability, sustainability, and security.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions
  • Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata
  • Proactively monitor ETL task flows, troubleshoot failed jobs, and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Preparation of charts, diagrams, and tables that depict the present and proposed systems or results as identified in the requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited fouryear college or university with major coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field is generally preferred.
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in IDMC, Data warehousing concepts, and ETL methodologies
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience with ETL Informatica Power Exchange Change Data Capture (CDC)
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in database design, Physical and Logical Database modeling, ER Diagram, Slowly Changing Dimension, snowflakes & star schemas, and Facts & Dimensions tables
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience with SQL optimization (Pushdown Optimization) and database query tuning
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in data integration using Informatica IDMC; 8+ years in ETL development, Python, REST APIs, CI/CD, monitoring tools
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in SQL and database design skills (Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, Salesforce)
  • Five plus (5+) yearsof experience in Operational experience with Secure Agent or comparable runtime/application components
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in supporting data quality and governance tools
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in oncall support for critical ETL systems
  • Experience and education may be substituted on a yearforyear basis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited university with major coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field is generally preferred
  • Eight (8) years of experience with Software Development Lifecycle and Best Practices
  • Five (5) years of experience working with the Snowflake database platform
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in Linux scripting and commandline tools
  • Three (3) years of experience in PowerShell scripting languages (VBA, Shell Script, RESTful API development and integration, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby, PowerShell, Python, PHP)
  • Three (3) years of handson experience with IDMC AI on data integration, governance, and quality to prepare datasets for AI/ML models
  • Three (3) years of handson experience configuring catalog templates for data dictionaries, domains, glossaries, business datasets, rules, and tagging
  • Three (3) years of handson experience in operating and maintaining the Cloud Data Governance & Catalog (CDGC) platform: configuration, metadata onboarding, scanners, lineage capture, template management
  • Current IDMC Cloud Data Integration Developer (Core + Advanced) Certification
  • Current AI Agent Engineering Foundation Certification

Additional Information

Work Hours: Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our agency offers alternative schedules for employees, provided they do not adversely affect operations or service levels and standard hours of operation are maintained. The Commission may also offer telework in accordance with the agency's approved Telework Plan. Alternate work schedules may be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.
